✨ MATHILDA'S POV ✨

The sound of my heels cracked the heavy silence of the royal library like a knife.

"Princess. I did not knew you were lighting your presence here. I would have...."

"Adrian, where is the man I sent?" I cut him short.

Adrian was our royal librarian. He was a novice few years ago but he has achieved the position of head of the royal library after his uncle's death.

"He is sitting outside, my princess."

I glared at him.

"Why outside, Adrian? I sent him with a note that should have been enough to allow him to enter and read any library in the castle. Did he not show you that?"

I was furious but my face was a mask of calmness. An act I mastered in my childhood.

"He did, my princess. Umm, but umm."

"Start talking right away or you will find a certain letter about some certain secrets delivered to Mia tonight." I threatened him.

His face paled to a certain level that I thought he would certainly faint.

"The King has forbidden any and everyone from the library except of the royal family. If he wants to read these books, he needs a royal companion with him all the times he stays here." He spoke up. "My princess" he added and bowed.

"I'll be accompanying him in here. Cancel the appointment with the ladies this afternoon." I announced.

Sullivan, my most trusted soldier left the library.

I walked across the room and called Jephrey. He was leaning on the opposite wall, biting his nails and tapping his shoes.

"Come." I said and went inside.

He followed me quietly, with no shuffling sound of his shoes or loud breathing. He walked like a cat. Quiet and deadly.

While I made all the noise possible by a man. Clicking of my heels to the tinkling of my jewelry. I was a whole orchestra.

"There are the ancient tombs about the birth of magic. You can start there. I'll start with the kingdom's history." I instructed him and left.

It was not like I didn't know any book here. I had read every single one the library has to offer but my focus was not on figuring out how to break the curse around the forest.

I took a random book and sat on the huge table. The book was titled 'History of the Birth of the Kingdom and it's Courts'. It was a historical-political book. It taught me how to maintain a new kingdom's political and economic situation.

Jephrey sat next to me but I paid him no attention. He had a book titled 'Pagkatawo sa salamangka' which means 'Birth of Magic'.

"Do you often come here?" he asked softly.

"Yes."

"Why?"

His question shook me. Is he stupid or something? Why has anyone visited a library? To read.

"To read." I still answered his baseless question.

"No. I asked why do you often come here?"

I could not understand his question. I stared at him for a while.

"You should start reading." he said without even looking up from the book.

"Yeah. I should." But I didn't and just kept staring at him.
