Hey everyone, since Raine is non-binary and go by they/them, they don't have a confirmed birth gender. I just chose one for the sake of this chapter. As well as a dead name. Don't come at me.
Also before everyone comes at me about reproduction and all that crap, I found a post on Twitter by @catboymoments that basically shows that witches of any gender or sexuality can get pregnant and also get others pregnant.
I liked it, I agree with it, and therefore it is now canon in this book.Cry about it :)
Trigger Warning for purposful misgendering, dead naming, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, and all that FUN shit.
Happy Reading~
Mipha's POV:
"So just bend back, but if you're feeling pain, or that you can't do it, don't push it" I guided Willow backwards, helping her rest on her hands, doing a perfect back bend in the park while we waited for Nini to finish up some work stuff for Hexide, since they're gonna be a teacher there and also help Uncle Dari and Alador work on the sigil removal devices.
"I'm doing it!" She laughed, nearly collapsing as we both started laughing with eachother once I helped her slowly stand back up.
"Any other moves I can try? I wanna get more flexible!" She hopped side to side, punching the air.
"Yeah I've got a few! How about-"
"Mipha! Time to head back sweetheart!" Nini called to me, my smile growing as mom followed them out of the building. I bounced on my heels, taking Willow's hand and running to my parents."Willow can still come for a sleepover right?!" I squealed, mom laughing and ruffling my hair.
"About time you had your first sleepover! But yes- Owlet, Willow can stay over" I stomped my feet happily, all of us beginning to walk back towards the house."I brought all of my spa stuff! I can still practicing braiding your hair right? I may have cut my hair but your hair is just SO long it's hard not to want to style it" I laughed, nodding my head. Mom was figiting with her prototype prosthetic hand, opening it and balling it into a fist over and over.
"I don't know Raine-storm, feels off... might opt for the hook" mom shrugged, Nini rolling their eyes before they turned to me and Willow.
"Willow do you have any allergies? I was going to make slitherbeast steaks with potatoes" Willow smiled, stating she'd love that as I bit into my pendant, smiling and humming a random song."Willow do you wanna try more yoga poses when we get home?"
"You know it! I love those! So long as you promise to go on a run with me in the morning" I laughed at her, nodding my head as the house came into view. Willow and I weren't paying attention and rammed right into mom and Nini, since they stopped suddenly."Oh no..."
"Raine?"
"Nini? What's- Oh you've gotta be kidding me" I groaned as Nini seemed to start shaking from a mix of fear and anger.Standing at the door, seeming to knock violently on the wooden entrance that lacked Hooty at the moment- were a man and woman, both witches sharing Nini's skin color, and both our hair colors. They were wearing very pristine business clothes, standing out like sore thumbs.
"Is that Oma and Opa?" I winged, really hoping I needed new glasses as Nini pinched the bridge of their nose once they removed their glasses.
"Yep... Yep that's them"
"Raine, your parents hate me-"
"I'm aware, doesn't matter, not like they bother to answer my letters or messages anyways" they sighed, taking mom's hand and looking back to me."Ready for them to get your name and age wrong?"
"Yep" I nodded, walking with them towards the unwanted guests."Are Raine's parents bad...?" Willow whispered, to which I nodded.
