Mipha's POV:
We got everything ready, grabbing our bags so we could grab whatever survived the disaster. Hunter was ok, saying he knows anything in his old room was based on lies, and he's to the point that he doesn't want those items in his life anymore... except Sprig. He told Darius to get Sprig.
Hunter decided not to come with us, instead opting to go to Flyer Derby practice with Willow instead. They had a game this weekend, so Hunter wants to practice. He took plenty of elixers with him too, so that make me feel better about him leaving my side for the time being.
Mom is coming with us, Nini asking for her support through this since they're feeling apprehensive about returning to the castle after everything that happened. But they want to see what can be salvaged.
After all, I grew up in that unit. Nini wants to save anything from me growing up that they can find.
Soon enough we took off, Nini was getting more and more nervous as we got closer, so I flew a little closer and took their hand. They looked to me and smiled, squeezing my hand.
"Think of me everyday, hold tight to what I say, and I'll be close to you, even from far away~ Know that where ever you are, it is never too far, if you think of me, I'll be with you~" I sang to them, watching them smile wider and reach up to mess with my hair.
"Can't believe you remember that-"
"Remember what?" Mom piped in, flying closer.
"Well, when Mipha was around 3, I couldn't get her to sleep. Nothing soothed her- not even your lullaby. So because I was exhausted and frankly getting frustrated with this one" They flicked my ear, making me laugh.
"I made up a little lullaby of my own. Sang it for a few minutes, and she fell right asleep. I wrote the lyrics down so I wouldn't forget, and when I just couldn't get her down to bed I would sing it and it would knock her right out" Mom smiled taking their hand and carefully leaning over to kiss their cheek as we got closer to the castle."Nini... do you think anything survived..?" They paused, thinking for a minute.
"There's one thinng in that entire castle that I want to find... so I truly hope some of our stuff survived" I nodded, all 3 of us starting to land at the entrance.
The castle was in shambles, falling apart in chunks as nature took over the building, claiming it's life and drowning everything Belos built in it's vines.
"Ya know, I think I've only seen the throne room and conformatorium of this stupid place... It's hard to imagine that you and Owlet spent 17 years in this place. Can't imagine it being a nice place to grow up" mom ran her hand along the wall, then inspecting the dust on her fingers before wiping it off onto her dress.
"I mean... I had as good of a childhood as I could have had here. Sure it wasn't great, but I was a difficult kid to raise, and Belos had a tight leash on me and what I could do as I grew up" Nini nodded, taking my hand as we went up the stairs to our hallway.
Once we got to our unit, the door was broken and knocked down, leaving it wide open for us. Looking inside, we could see just how wrecked everything was. The living room was a disaster, destroyed and decayed. Seems the rest of the unit suffered the same fate.I can't believe I waited till the SECOND BOOK to show you guys what Raine and Mipha's unit looked like- BUT HERE YA GO! I know I spelled stuff wrong but I'm too lazy to fix it.
"Rainestorm..." mom put her hand on their shoulder as they seemed to be holding back tears.
They shook their head, all of us heading inside.
"Ok, who needs me where?" Mom asked as Nini started looking around the living room.
"Go with Mipha, I'll handle stuff here and in the kitchen before I go into my room to search" Mom nodded, taking my hand as I carefully opened my door before realising my closet had fallen and was now blocking the door.
I hummed in annoyance, going to the sink and screaming when it burst and water came spewing out. Mom and Nini rushed over as I forced the water back into the pipe, and then melted the faucet back onto it, turning the handle and stopping the unit from flooding.
We started laughing off our nerves as I moved the excess water with me to my bedroom, using the mass to lift the dresser out of the way and opening my door. I chucked the water out the shattered window and began looking around with mom. My desk was destroyed, the chair missing two legs and laying against the wall, seconds away from collapsing completely. My closet had taken some damage, but it seems it was protected my the door, so it was in better shape than most of the stuff in here.
"Oh wow... well... Show me around, Mipha" She gave me a smile as I looked around, Celeste flying out of my bag and landing on her perch, settling down on it as I could help myself from laughing at her for making herself right at home again after so long.
"Well..." I took a breath in, walking over to my bed and kneeling down, bringing an old box out from underneath and setting it on my crooked bed. One of the legs snapped so it was a little slanted. I scowled, quickly standing and using my magic to fix the leg and sitting back down on the now leveled mattress.
