Trigger Warning for blood, and death.

Hunter's POV:

"Need anything else?" I asked as I got Mipha as comfortable as possible on the couch. She's 36 weeks, and the doctor has demanded she be on bed rest till she goes into labor. Every day she has those awful cramps, but all the healers said everything is perfectly fine, and the baby just isn't super active. I've got a bad feeling about this, but Mipha is turning a blind eye to it because the doctors said she's fine. She knows just as well as I do that something might not be right here, but she's too scared to follow her head since we aren't the professinals.

I finished setting up the nursery, everything is themed after a sky with fluffy clouds. I loved it, so did Mipha. We had come up with names too. Adam if it's a boy, and Rosie if it's a girl. Everything was ready, but Mipha... I can't stop worrying.

"I think I'm ok, it's just hurting a lot..." she groaned, shifting to try and get more comfortable. She just layed on her side and watched tv while I went to make her some tea. She's paler, circles under her eyes... despite the baby not moving much, she hasn't been able to sleep lately. I've tried everything I can to help. Luz got something called a "pregnancy pillow" from the human realm for her to try, it worked for a couple nights, but it's now to the point that Mipha is just far too uncomfortable to sleep. Even while on bed rest, sleeping doesn't seem to be an accessible option for her.
I don't know how else to say it, but she's huge. Her bump looked like her stomach would burst at any moment, the itching and stretching feelings driving her up the wall. She's swollen, her breasts hurt, it just seems impossible for her to be comfortable right now. No matter what we try, nothing works. By this point, Mipha is begging for the finale to come, to just have the baby and be done with the awful feelings the pregnancy have given to her. We've still got 4 weeks, but the doctors said it could be any day now with how fast the baby has grown. Celeste snuggled with her owner, trying to cheer her up as Mipha's knotted blue hair hid most of her face.

I brought her some tea, smiling to her as she tried her best to be present and content in life. Darius was by yesterday to see if he could help make her comfortable. Today Eda and Raine were coming over to help out where they could, and to just keep Mipha company since I have to go to work today. Dell tried to insist I take a few months off for parental leave, but I told him I'd like to keep working until Mipha goes into labor. He understood, and Mipha was happy that I could still work. She's been a little agitated by my hovering, and that's fair, so right now she's content with having time to herself. She's promised that she doesn't get up and do things she's not meant to. She's got no energy, so it's not like she can do much anyways.

"You gonna be ok?" I asked, setting a plate of toast and strawberry jam on the coffee table for her, making sure the table was close enough for her to reach everything.
"I'm good, I promise. Mom and Nini are coming, you've made me a lot of toast, I got tea! Heck Luz finally got this Switch to work here so I can play video games in the house rather than going to the human realm to do so. I'm fine, I promise" she smiled, giving me a thumbs up as I watched her shake uncontrollably. Side effect of the sleep deprivation and the constant cramps, the shaking.

"I don't know... maybe I should wait until they get here-"
"Go to work! Grandpa may be gentle and patient, but Grandma will have your head if you're late" my eyes went wide as I realised she was right, Dell was understanding, but Gwen- you don't piss off Gwen. I walked over, Mipha sitting up and letting me kiss her. I paused before kneeling and kissing her belly, rubbing gentle circles as the sensation made Mipha sigh in content since it would ease the pain.
"Stop hurting your mom, she's doing her best" I smiled, kissing the bump again before kissing my fiance and carressing her cheek.

"Call me if anything happens, ok?" she nodded, stiffling a laugh as I made sure I had an elixer for emergencies and left the house, closing the door behind me.
I haven't had trouble with the Cardinal Beast since the incident. One elixer every day and it stays dorment, like that chapter of my life was over and I no longer needed the beast. Guess Flap knew something would happen and I would need some extra help. Only thing is... I still have nightmares about what happened when I turned Harpy...
