Peter and Harry have been best friends since childhood and have had each others backs but Harry didn't trust Spider-Man. When Norman Osborn presumably died Harry went insane and figured out his dad was the Goblin
He then took on the role of the Hobgoblin

Harry also figured out Peter was Spider-Man and went after him and MJ but in the end Peter was able to defeat his best friend and Harry went to jail
When Norman returned he broke Harry out and both goblins were on the lose but when Harry found out how insane his father was he redeemed himself and the Green Goblin was finally defeated after Harry sacrificed his life by blowing up Green Goblin's glider with the both of them on it
