Chapter 10: Building Trust
"Ummm hello?" Sam said as he stared at McKenzie at the doorway
McKenzie screamed and he ran down the hall leaving Sam confused as he walked out to see him run
"Annnnd done" Bluey said as she placed the last piece of the puzzle to complete the set
"You want to do another puzzle Bluey?" Bingo asked
"Sorry Bingo, but I got to check on McKenzie" she said as she stood up
"Oh okay" Bingo said as she went to the backyard
Bluey started to walk to the stairs and she saw McKenzie frantically going down the stairs like he's being chased by someone
"Woah McKenzie what's wrong?" Bluey questioned as McKenzie ran behind her
"There's something in that room!" McKenzie said as he was frighten
"What? What do you mean?" Bluey asked
"The spare room there's something in there!" McKenzie said
"Oh..." She said as she knew what he had seen
"Here grab my hand I'll show you what it is." Bluey said as she offered her hand
McKenzie grabbed her hand and she led the way upstairs.
Sam was in Bluey's and Bingo's room looking around as he never really explored the room before
"Connect Paw? Huh looks like Connect Four to me" Sam said to himself as he kept looking around
He looked at drawings of different what seems to be scenarios that the family had and Sam didn't get it as he kept looking at them and got more confused on what some of them were.
Sam looked at the toys that got in the room
"Man that's a lot of plushies, just how many plushies do you need?" Sam said to himself
Sam went to the balcony of the room and he saw the backyard he saw a shed with garden gnomes around it and he saw Chilli tending with flowers with Bingo roaming around the yard and she eventually noticed Sam and she waved at him and he waved back
Sam heard footsteps coming from the hallway and he turned to the doorway to see Bluey and McKenzie facing the opposite way to his room.
"Now I know he seems scary, but he's really nice." Bluey said as she went to the door
"I don't know he's weird he's like a furless monkey." McKenzie said
"Yeah I know he may look like that, but it's best for him to explain what he is." Bluey said as she opened the door
"Huh where is he?" She said as Sam wasn't in the room
"Behind you" Sam said as he was at the doorway of Bluey's and Bingo's room
McKenzie jumped as he turned to see Sam behind him and he jumped behind Bluey as she wasn't scared of Sam
"Oh there you are what are you doing in my room?" Bluey asked
"Oh I was just looking around a bit, ya know it's boring to look at the same ceiling for an hour." Sam said
"Oh yeah you don't have anything in that room just your bed." Bluey said
"That your right" Sam said
"Who's that behind you?" Sam asked
"Oh this is McKenzie he is my friend ." Bluey replied
"Oh your the one that I saw that opened my door" Sam said as he crouched down to match the height of McKenzie
"I think you and I got off on the wrong foot names Sam nice to meet you McKenzie." Sam said as he offered his hand for a shake
McKenzie was hesitant, but he eventually grabbed his hand and Sam slowly went up and down and let go.
"What are you?" McKenzie said as he got a little bit more comfortable with Sam
"Well you see I'm not from here I am a human from my world." Sam replied
"So your an alien?" McKenzie said
Sam chuckled at that
"Yeah I guess you can say that" Sam said
McKenzie wasn't scared anymore as matter of fact he was more curious about Sam he kept asking questions about Sam what he did in his world what planet he's from and so on.
It was 4 and the three went to the kitchen to eat and Chilli walked in with Bingo and her eyes widen for a moment as she saw Sam at the corner and wasn't hiding and McKenzie was at the table talking with Bluey who's eating a sandwich.
"Sam what are you doing out!?" Chilli whispered in a panic to Sam
"Oh hey Chilli" Sam said
"Don't worry about McKenzie he already seen me it took some time, but he eventually warmed up to me so he's not afraid of me." Sam said
Chilli gotten calmed after hearing that as she looked over to see the two kid waving at her
"Well that's great to hear" she said as she went to grab a snack
"Yeah he asked so many questions it like it never ends" Sam said as he took a bite out of a sandwich
They all talked about the things they did today until it was time for McKenzie's mum to pick him up
*Ding dong* the door rang
"Oh my mum is here" McKenzie said as he got up from his seat
"Oh McKenzie" Chilli asked
"Yes Bluey's mum" McKenzie replied
"Don't mention Sam to your mum or dad they wouldn't understand." Chilli said
"Okay I won't" he said as he went out the door to his mum
McKenzie and his mum were heading home after the playdate and his mum broke the silence
"So how'd it go at Bluey's house?" She asked
"It was good I had a fun time there" McKenzie said
"Ah is that right so what you do?" She asked
"Well we played Connect Paw and I met her friend." McKenzie said
"Ooo who's this new friend you got to meet" she asked
McKenzie thought a bit on what to say because he didn't want to tell the truth
"Oh the friend is imaginary she like to make imaginary friends." He said as he looked out the window
She looked in the mirror to look at him and she knew he was lying about it so she played along
"Oh okay" she said as she pulled into their driveway
They both went inside and spent the day doing housework and making dinner and went to bed.
