Ch 35: Regret

Chapter 35: Regret

Sam was sitting at a table listening to the news on the TV in the hotel room until something cought his attention

"This today's news the leader of the U.G found dead at his desk" The reporter said while Sam turned to the TV

"The man Isaac R was going to be removed as leader of the U.G corporation until the people who were going to remove him found him dead at his desk assumed to be a suicide more on that story at 8" The reporter said as Sam turned the TV off and put his hand on his head

"I made a man kill himself..." Sam said in disbelief as he pondered about the story

Sam laid his head on the table to think until someone walked into the room which made Sam look up to the doorway

Smith was at the doorway with a bag and he walked in with the bag and placed it on the table in front of Sam

"Hey I got some food... What's wrong?" Smith asked as he saw the look on Sam's face

"Oh it's nothing... I'm fine" Sam said

"Sam you're lying I know that face and that face is regret" Smith said as he pulled out a chair and sat down facing Sam

"Alright I'm having regrets on what we did" Sam said

"What!? Why?" Smith said shocked

"Well on the news they found Isaac R dead and he killed himself" Sam said

"After what he tried to do... After what he did to you? You have regrets for his death?" Smith said

"Smith it's not what he tried to do it's why he tried" Sam said

"What do you mean?" Smith questioned

"He was trying to get revenge for what the U.R did" Sam said

"Why would he want to do that to the U.R?" Smith asked

"I worked with them before I went to the U.G and I was a grunt doing tasks for them and one day I had the task to go to 84-D6 after am attack from T.E.G and there's this building on fire and there's a woman trapped inside we had orders to stay away from the building and Isaac R was trying to save her, but we didn't let him and the building blew up and he was devastated and he saw me looking at her and doing nothing" Sam said

"Jesus I didn't know, I'm sorry you had to see that especially when your just starting your career" Smith said

"It's not that I've seen men die in front of me before, but women and children are a different story I choose to forget about that tragedy, but now you know why he had it out for me and the U.R" Sam said

"I do now... Thanks for telling me about it we'll be leaving tomorrow just to let you know that" Smith said as he was at the doorway

"Alright see you tomorrow" Sam said

"Yeah you too" Smith said as he closed the door

Sam went to the bedroom and laid on the bed looking at the ceiling thinking about the mission he went on in his head and after while he went to sleep

Sam woke up in the morning and he took a shower and after that he ate the food Smith got him and headed to the lobby and saw the three sitting waiting for him

"Hey there he is" Smith said as he looked at Sam

"Yeah sorry I had to take a shower" Sam said

"Ready to go?" Zodolf said

"Yeah I'm ready" Smith replied

"Me too" Sarah said as well

Sam nodded and they head outside and turned to the alley behind the hotel and Zodolf set the portal up

"Alright the portal is set" Zodolf said as he stepped back

"You know you guys don't have to come with me ya know" Sam said

"Well me and Sarah actually liked that world" Smith said as he put his arm over her shoulders

"Yeah it's pretty colorful there and I think the dogs are cute" Sarah said

"Zodolf are you coming?" Sam asked

"Sorry little brother I have things to settle here, but here's a gift" Zodolf said as he handed Sam something

Sam looked at it and it looks like the device that Zodolf uses to set up the portal

"Is this what I think it is?" Sam said

"That it is now you don't need me to go anywhere you want oh yeah here's your guys as well" Zodolf said as he handed Smith and Sarah the same thing with Sam

"Thanks" Smith said

"Yeah thank you" Sarah replied

"Don't mention it, it also comes with a transmitter so you can communicate with me here and to each other" Zodolf said

"When did you make these?" Smith asked

"In my room you'd be surprised on how much tech they throw out" Zodolf said

"Thanks brother for everything thing" Sam said with a smile

"Good luck brother" Zodolf said with a wave

The three walked through the portal and it closed behind them leaving them in front of the heelers home

Zodolf stood there looking at the area where the portal was and he sighed and walked out of the alley and started walking towards a tall building with a U.G logo on top in the distance
