Awake

Once more I turned to my other side, quietly groaning in frustration. Next to me, Leo was lightly snoring which wasn't very helpful while trying to fall asleep.
I opened my eyes to look at the alarm clock on the bedside table, the only source of light in the room. 3am. I sighed and ran a hand across my face.
After another few minutes, I decided that it made no sense to stay in bed since I wouldn't be able to fall asleep anytime soon.

Rubbing my eyes, I sat up and swung my legs out from underneath the blanket. As soon as my bare feet hit the ground, the cold shot through my body, making me shiver. That's why I quickly grabbed my socks and a thin blanket that I used to cover my body. I slowly walked towards the door of our bedroom and opened the door, trying not to make to much noise.
The moment I stepped trough the doorway, I heard Leo turning around and I quickly stopped walking, hoping I didn't wake him up. Thankfully he didn't move again, apparently he just turned in his sleep.

I sighed in relief and I continued my way to the kitchen. I turned on the light, grabbed a glass and filled it with water. With the drink in my hand I stepped into the rather large living room and sat down on the broad windowsill, looking down at the thousands of colourful city lights beneath me. When I looked up at the sky I could see a full moon shining brightly.
I leaned my head against the wall behind me and closed my eyes.
Why couldn't I just fall asleep?

I was torn out of my thoughts by someone stepping into the room.
"(y/n)?", Leo asked with a raspy voice, sounding very tired. I tuned my body to look at him. "Why aren't you in bed?", he whined and rubbed his eyes with one of his hands. I smiled at his adorable self and put my feet back on the ground in front of the window.

"Couldn't sleep.", I simply answered and walked closer to him. I put my arms around his torso and laid my head on his bare chest. He instantly hugged me back, laying his warm hands on my back and gently rubbing them up and down. When he hid his face in my neck, I had the feeling that he was slowly falling asleep again.

"Are you still with me?", I asked, chuckling quietly and lifting my head from his chest to look at his face. "Mhm", he mumbled, his tired eyes looking at mine.
"Can we just go back to bed?", Leo asked. "I don't think I'll be able to sleep.", I responded, sounding exhausted. "C'mon pricessa, please.", he pouted which made me give in: "Alright.".
He smiled, took one of my hands in his and made his way back to our bedroom, pulling me after him.

When we were finally laying in our bed, Leo immediately draped his arms around my waist and pulled me close to his warm chest. He softly kissed my head and hid his face in my neck. I smiled when his soft curls tickled my skin and I closed my eyes in bliss.
It didn't take long until my body finally drifted off to sleep.
