Max and Chloe head to the latter's house, with the first one that for fatigue and stress accumulated previously ends up falling asleep. As soon as you get home, not to wake Max, Chloe takes her in her arms and takes her to sleep on the bed with her, and just before going to sleep whispers in Max's ear:
"I love you, my friend."
The next morning Max wakes up and decides to take a selfie with the camera, to which is also added the same Chloe. This short carefree moment allows them to relax and enjoy each other's company, with Max still not feeling ready to give the photo for the "Everyday Hero" contest fearing he may not be up to it.
"You have to try to be more confident, because when you are, you crack more than anyone, and it was satisfying to see you pounce on Victoria Chase and slap her."
"But it's a shame that I hurt you by telling you those horrible things about Rachel and just before when I got mad at you for the joke; so, I'd rather not let out such a thorny side of me."
"Then try to balance these two aspects of your character, I'd like to see you more impulsive in certain situations. For example, I dare you to kiss me."
"What?!"
"I double dare you, kiss me now."
Max doesn't repeat it and kisses Chloe
"Damn, you're hardcore, Max. Now i can text Warren and tell him he doesn't stand a chance... unless he's into girl-on-girl action"
"You're such a dork."
Following Chloe's advice, Max also tries to renew her clothing, asking if there was stuff inside her closet that would fit her, and Chloe suggests clothes that Rachel was wearing that would look good on Max. Chloe's reaction:
"Wow, Max, all you need is a tattoo, a few piercings, and you're ready to rock."
"Yeah, I'm ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah."
"Maybe not. go on down and say hi to Joyce, free breakfast."
"Clear"
Max goes down and meets Joyce who is preparing breakfast, who is surprised to think it was Rachel because of the clothes, and while Max helps her prepare breakfast, Joyce tells her about last night when she saw Chloe carrying Max in her arms.
"I saw Chloe taking you to bed, I guess you must have been really tired to let her take you."
"Unfortunately, yes, Joyce, yesterday was a very heavy day, and not only for Kate, and all this has also affected with Chloe since I argued."
"But if you've come to sleep here and Chloe has done so much to help you, it means that you've made peace right away, which heartens me and shows how much you love each other."
"You're right, but I'm always afraid of saying the wrong word with Chloe, and therefore destroy a relationship that we have finally rebuilt after so long."
"You will see that it will not happen, you always have the right word for everything, and even if you make a mistake it is human, no one is perfect. Now sit down, pancakes are ready soon."
Max sits down, and after eating the pancakes, Joyce shows her the family album, and among the photos is the one where William took the last photo of Max and Chloe before he died in an accident. Joyce gives the photo to Max, and shortly after Chloe goes down the stairs to have breakfast too.
"Are you having a meeting to talk about how bad I am?"
"It's not just you," replies Max
Chloe, please. It's too early to start fighting. Just eat.
Chloe sits next to Max
"That's the family album? What a cheerful day start"
"Chloe, please, I didn't take it to grieve or anything, I showed it to Max to remember the good times we had with William, that's all." *Chloe gets up* "Where are you going?"
"Don't worry, I'm not running, I just want some juice, nothing more." Chloe says in her broken voice
"Chloe, are you crying?" asks Max
"No"
"Are you sure..."
"I SAID NO!" Chloe at that moment shows the face on which they shed tears, sad for the memory of his deceased father for years. Max gets up and tries to console Chloe.
"Chloe, I'm sorry if you had to rethink what happened again, there's nothing wrong with crying or letting off steam if it makes you feel better."
"I cried and I let it out but it doesn't do shit, I'm always sick and I don't know what happened to Rachel. It seems the universe is mad at me because everyone who loves me leaves me."
At that moment David came back
"Chloe, why are you crying? Did something happen?
"None of your business."
"My fault for asking."
"David, are you tired, problems at Blackwell?" asks Joyce
"There was a guy who infiltrated the women's dorm first and then male, in the latter he also stole the gun of Nathan Prescott, who told me he was a very dangerous guy. I don't suppose you two know anything about that."
"Once again accusing us David, what should we know? Explain it."
"Well, Principal Wells told me that that guy was stalking you, Max, and that you pushed him to save him."
"If you trust someone who was drunk as hell, I think you need to review your methods of investigation, because like I told you, Chloe and I know nothing about this guy.
"David, please leave them alone, Max is in pieces for yesterday and Chloe is in no mood to start any more discussions, so let it go."
"Chloe's always rebellious and now that she's crying she doesn't want any more arguments, easy for her to be the victim."
"Fuck David! Be a man for once and not a dictator freak!" reply Chloe
"Don't you dare answer me like that, now tell me the truth otherwise..."
To interrupt the discussion there is the sound of the bell, to which Joyce goes to open, who finds herself a person less than all expected to see: Rachel Amber
