Chapter 16. Kidnapping

After meeting with Dio at the dump, Rachel decides to contact Mark Jefferson.

*Jefferson's phone rings* "Hello?"

"Long time no hear, huh Mark?"

"..."

"Cat got your tongue? Hey there, land call Jefferson."

"How the fuck are you still alive? You were dead, I'm so sure."

"I may be calling you from beyond the grave to get revenge for what happened to me."

"I remind you that it was that asshole Nathan who killed you with an overdose, not me."

"You, however, kidnapped me, and you circuited Nathan so that he would hang on your every word by making him your slave. You are as guilty as he is, if not more so. In any case I have with me all the evidence of what you did to me in there, and if you want it back you must do what I tell you."

*Mark begins to panic, but after a brief moment regains control* "All right, what do you want me to do?"

"I want you to come to the beach and bring me $5,000, and if you even dare to bring Nathan or anyone else along you will pay dearly for it."

"All right Rachel, I'll come with the money and no one."

"Perfect. See you in an hour."

After Rachel hangs up the call, Jefferson vents his anger on the objects in his house.

"FUCK! THAT IDIOT WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO KILL HER! NOW HE HEARS ME!"

Mark tries to call Nathan

"This is Nathan Prescott's voicemail, if I don't pick up it's because I'm stoned or having a good time and I don't want any pain in the ass calling me. Leave a message after the beep and I'll get back to you... maybe." *beep*

"Nathan, it's Jefferson. Rachel is still alive and has the evidence of our crimes with her, I'm warning you that as soon as I settle the matter with that bitch you will pay the consequences of your negligence."

After the call Jefferson takes both the money and the gun from the safe, and drives to the beach to meet Rachel.

One hour later

"You're right on time Mark."

"Now that I'm here, give me the pictures."

"I'm sorry, but as you can see I don't have anything here with me. I'm only interested in you and that's all."

"I knew that vengeful as you are you wouldn't let me get away with just $5,000, that's why I prepared a plan B. *Jefferson draws his gun* You should have gotten smart and gone straight to the police, but instead you reasoned like a little girl in a rage and decided to sentence yourself to death a second time. Goodbye Rachel."

Mark fires a gunshot, but it is blocked thanks to Rachel's stand holding the bullet suspended in the air.

"This is a joke right?" *He empties the entire loader, but no bullet reaches Rachel* "What the hell is going on?"

"Did you really think I was going to come in here without making sure you got your way? Get off your high horse Mark, because you lost."

Jefferson tries to run away, but Rachel uses her stand to throw one of the bullets back at Jefferson, hitting him right in the knee.

"CHRIST THAT HURT! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER! STAY AWAY! YOU WILL PAY DEARLY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!"

"Shut up or I'll kill you right now."

"You want the money! Here it is, but please spare me."

"Maybe you didn't get it, but your dirty money I have no use for." *Rachel picks up the lighter and burns the money* "See, money doesn't interest me."

"You're crazy, and anyway you have to take me to the hospital since I'm losing blood and the wound could get infected."

"Forget it! I'll treat you, but just enough so you don't die like the dog you are, but I'd better give you anesthesia first since I don't want to hear you scream."

Rachel gives Jefferson a punch that causes him to pass out instantly, and through Tornado manipulates the oxygen in the air allowing the wound to stop bleeding. After doing so, Rachel puts Jefferson in the car and drives him straight to the Prescott farm, where in addition to Dio Brando and Nathan Prescott, she finds an unexpected guest: Kate Marsh.

"What does this mean? Who is this girl?"

"Her name is Kate Marsh and she is the girl Max saved from an attempted suicide. I kind of regret kidnapping her, but since Max didn't want to join me, I decided to stir the pot by trying to force the issue."

"It's not true that you're sorry, otherwise you wouldn't have done it. Bring her back, there's still a long way to go before the sun rises."

"Hold on little girl, you told me to kidnap Nathan and I did. You should have been more specific and told me to kidnap ONLY Nathan and maybe I would have gone along with you, but without that word I had free hand to handle what I wanted to do next."

"I should never have asked you to do this, I was stupid to think you wouldn't act on your own interests. I'm out of this and I'm taking Kate too, you do what you want with those two."

"Do as you please, but if you leave I might decide to go back to the hospital and kill Max and Chloe in cold blood, and I assure you it wouldn't even take me five seconds to do it. Consider carefully what you are going to do from now on.

Rachel would even like to fight him at this point, but she knows she would end up involving an innocent, consequently she picks up a painting that she slams to the ground with all her strength, then screams with all the energy in her body.

"You made the right choice."
