Chapter 17. Theft Part 1

Immediately after the kiss, Max and Chloe smile in a moment in which the fear and tension accumulated previously seems to have vanished.

"I'm speechless from the emotion."

"So am I Chloe, I'm even shaking from how excited I am."

"Shall we end this evening on a high note?"

"You can't imagine how much I want to Chloe, but let me remind you that tomorrow we have to help David with the theft, and if we're not clear-headed enough we'll screw it up. You know I hate being Jiminy Cricket, but in this case I have to be more so than other times."

"Unfortunately, you're right. We'll have to limit ourselves to just a kiss this time, then when this is over we'll wrap up the loose ends."

"You bet we will. I'm dead tired now though, we'd better go to bed and set the alarm for 7:30, so we'll have time to get ready and later go take care of the computer."

"That's why you deserve the name SuperMax, you look like a superheroine all over the place. Anyway, I'm beat too, we'd better get to bed. Good night Max."

"Good night Chloe."

When it seems that Chloe has fallen asleep, Max comes up to her to whisper in her ear:

"I love you Chloe!"

"I love you too Maxine!"

"You can call me Maxine this time."

"I thank you for the honor granted me."

"AHAHAH. Good night, but for real this time."

"Good night to you, too."

The next day, 7:30 a.m.

"Good morning Chloe"

"Good morning Max."

"Do you feel ready for what we have to do?"

"Max, I've been awake not even a minute, try to relax since we have time on our side."

"I don't know if you said that seriously or ironically, anyway let's get dressed so after we finish here we can leave."

"Well said."

A nurse enters the room

"Hello girls...I see you are already getting ready for when you go home, very good. I'm glad to hear that you are both ok, especially you who saved Kate."

"Thank you very much. Do you know Kate?"

"I know her a little, but just enough to say that she is a very sweet girl and deserves all the good she can get. I am the one who provided her with pen and paper, and seeing some of her drawings I can tell she is really good."

"I'm really pleased. I'd like to go and say goodbye to her before I leave."

"I don't think Kate is such an early riser, I suggest you let her sleep. In case I'll tell her that you and-what's your name?"

"Chloe."

"That you and Chloe say hello."

"All right, thank you very much."

"You're welcome, I'll leave you now because I guess you have to finish getting ready."

"Thank you, and good work."

8:00 a.m.

"Are we ready SuperMax?"

"Ready Chloe, Arcadia's Angels in action!"

"You'd need Rachel to say it too, but I like your initiative. Let's go!"
