Max and Chloe stay over until 6 p.m., then get dressed and go to ask David and Joyce if the projector is ready for tonight's meeting.
"Joyce and I struggled no small amount, but we set up lamps, amplifier and all. This contraption is vampire-proof, both past and present."
"You did a great job, and Chloe and I will be grateful to you to the end."
"Now help me put it in the machine. If Chloe's Pick-Up hadn't been destroyed, I would have put it there."
"Chloe, can we talk five minutes?"
"Sure Mom, I'll be right there."
Joyce and Chloe go to the kitchen to talk.
"So what do you need to talk about... *Joyce hugs Chloe* Okay, I didn't see that one coming."
"I'm proud of you Chloe. To see you finally so sunny and happy after all these years, it makes me really happy."
"Mom I'm not going to war, so you make it sound like goodbye, I'll be back safe and sound."
"I know, I still fear for your safety, I wish I could do more for you."
"You have already done enough. You've always been there for me trying to help me get over Dad's death, you've shown me more affection than I deserved for all the times I treated you badly, and you even believed the vampire story when others wouldn't."
"Wait, I want to give you something before you leave."
Joyce takes out a small Bible and gives it to Chloe.
"Why a Bible?"
"When you were in the hospital getting along with David, I went to talk to Kate, and in between chats she asked me to give you this small Bible that she kept with her after leaving the hospital, as a gesture to have both her and the Lord by your side."
"When we save her I will personally thank her for the gesture. Thank you, Mom, for everything."
Chloe and Joyce embrace, with Joyce crying in fear for her daughter's life, who attempts to reassure her by saying that she has David and Max on her side, and that consequently she need not be afraid.
"Chloe, Max is in the car and we've already prepared everything, come."
"I'm coming David."
"I love you Chloe."
"I love you too mom."
With these words Chloe and Joyce say goodbye. After Max, Chloe, and David get into the car, they leave the house to head to the dump so they can end this story
