Chapter 13. Hospital Part 2

Despite the happy moment, Max is assailed by a severe headache which is followed by a vision of the tornado that will destroy Arcadia Bay, in which Rachel lies unconscious with her stand that has lost control creating this giant tornado. After recovering her whole family Price is next to her to check her condition, and she replies:

"Don't worry, it may have been from the accident I had but I'm fine now."

"Are you sure Max? If you want, we can call a doctor to see you."

"Really Joyce, now the headache is going away. Right now though I would need a few minutes alone with Chloe, just to relax."

"If you need me to relax, I'm warning you right now that I don't have any weed."

"Not like that."

"I know. Come on out so my friend Max can talk to me without embarrassment."

Joyce and David walk out, worried about Max but at the same time calm knowing that Chloe is there to support her. Chloe and Max begin to talk about Max's vision.

"You had another vision of the tornado didn't you?"

"Yes, and there's worse: I saw Rachel lifeless inside the tornado with a figure that kept standing by her and feeding the force of the tornado. I'm afraid that when Dio mentioned 'stand' he was referring to this."

"Are you sure it was Rachel?" Asks Chloe in astonishment.

"I'm sure of it, just as I'm sure of the fact that when Rachel lost control in the Pick-Up, her stand materialized and we flipped without her wanting it. Listen Chloe, we have to come up with a plan to stop Dio and stop him from using Rachel's power, Nathan is no longer a priority now since he is harmless compared to that being, but we'll come back to it after we've taken care of this."

"You're right Max, however, there is the problem that we don't know where he's hiding, and even if we did we wouldn't be able to get him out of his hiding place easily since from the way you told me he seems to be beyond our reach. One way to stand up him is..."

"I hope you're not gonna  say garlic and crosses."

"Ehhhhmmmm, yes!"

"Chloe we're not dealing with Christopher Lee's Dracula, we're dealing with someone who is quite different from classic movie vampires."

"Okay SuperMax, then you suggest something that can save us."

"If I remember correctly, they recently introduced UV lamps in the hospital to disinfect the rooms, they might come in handy against Dio since they give off ultraviolet rays that could harm him."

"It's not a bad idea, only we certainly can't ask the hospital if they would do us a favor and lend them to us, otherwise we would be taken for fools."

"Then let's steal them."

"WHAT?!"

"Chloe I totally understand your concern, but this is about something bigger than us and for which we need every possible means."

"I totally understand that Max, but we're talking about stealing inside a medical building here, and then we don't specialize in assembling and disassembling these things, besides the fact that we would need tools to be able to take everything apart."

"What if we asked David for help?"

"EH?!" No way Max, he would instantly refuse."

"Then let's tell him everything, and if he doesn't believe us we'll look for another solution, but this is the best plan at the moment."

"And to say that I was the impulsive and reckless one before, I guess I influenced you a lot Max."

"I learned from the best. Let's bring David in and cross our fingers."

Chloe only calls David to the room, as she does not want to involve her mother in the situation.

"Okay girls, what do you need to talk to me about?"

"David, Chloe and I need to talk to you about something important, and I hope you will take what we are about to tell you seriously as we need all the help we can get."

"Should I be worried? When you say that, it sounds like the apocalypse is coming."

"You really have a point, but let me tell you about it: do you remember when the alarm went off in the school? Well, I set it off to save Chloe as Nathan was threatening her with a gun."

"Chloe?" David looks at her as if to seek confirmation, with her nodding to confirm what Max said. "Oh my God, I'm sorry then for how I behaved with you, I didn't think you did all that for my Chloe."

"That's not all, because I was able to save her because of my power to manipulate time."

David is stunned by what Max said, with Chloe telling him:

"David, I know this sounds like a story out of a science fiction movie, but it's the truth. Did the snowfall and eclipse seem like normal stuff to you? Absolutely not, then Max proved to me that his power is real."

Max then goes on to tell David about everything she and Chloe have experienced, from meeting Frank at the dump to Max's rescue of Kate, from meeting Dio Brando in the women's dormitory to the incident with Rachel. David is left speechless by all that Max has recounted, and he says:

"If it weren't for the events that have occurred in the past few days, I would think that you have smoked a whole plantation of marijuana, but I don't believe at all that you have told me about all this to make fun of me or make a joke. All right I believe you, but I want to know how I can help you.

"You need to help us steal some UV lamps that are in the hospital, and with your tools and skills you would be a huge help."

"Max, Chloe, you can't ask an ex-soldier to break the law, even if it's for good. This is something that goes against my morals."

"I specify that it was Max's idea, she still wanted to take a shot and ask you."

"David, I know very well that what I am asking goes against your morals and against what you have been fighting for, but here we are talking about a monstrous being who has threatened to kill me and everyone close to me if I did not join him, who has circuit Rachel by turning her against us, and who in addition is a vampire who if not stopped now could harm all of us and other innocent people. Please, this is the first and last time I make such a request of you, I will take full responsibility when we get rid of Dio, but we need you."

David remains silent for several minutes, keeping the girls on their toes, then says:

"I know I'm going to regret what I'm about to say, but I will help you with the theft. However, I want to be clear: first and last time I do anything illegal, then you will have to deal with it on your own.

Max is relieved at David's positive response, so much so that she goes to hug him, while Chloe merely makes a closed fist that is returned by David, with her saying:

"I didn't think you'd accept, at this point to join our club all you have to do is a joint and you're done."

"Wait and hope Chloe, if I ever do a joint rest assured that other than the apocalypse, the universal flood would come down."
