After returning to the Dark Room, Rachel puts Kate's cell phone back, and rests beside her, trying to give her psychological support before the meeting at the dump.
"Rachel, I thank you for being there for me at this time."
"No problem Kate, you will see that by tonight it will all be over and you can go back to your life as usual."
"I would like to ask you a question."
"Go ahead."
"Are you still sure you want revenge on Nathan and Jefferson? From what I understand you did all this to make them pay for what they did to you, but seeing the look on your face I notice there is not the anger I expected to find."
"If you had asked me two days ago, I would have told you that I wanted to make them suffer in the worst possible ways, and then kill them and throw them in a garbage bag where they deserve to be. Now I'm not sure about that anymore, because after all this I realized how many innocent people got in the way of my desire for revenge, that's why I want the two of them to pay for what they did but in jail."
"You are a good person Rachel, and you've suffered so much."
"I am not a good person, I have made far too many mistakes in my life that I am trying to make up for in this short period of time. You in contrast to me seem to be a good girl, who loves her fellow man and tries to help him to the best of her ability."
"Thank you for these kind words. One more question and then I'll leave you alone: what are you going to do as soon as this is over?"
"I will apologize to the people I have hurt, and I will try to recover my relationship with my parents. What about you?"
"I would like to publish a children's book focusing on bullying, with drawings and various photographs."
"That's a wonderful idea Kate, I hope this idea of yours goes through."
"I hope the same for you."
After this dialogue several hours pass in which the Dark Room is enveloped in a deafening silence, which is broken precisely by Dio.
"It's 7 p.m. and the sun is setting, at this point we need to get ready for tonight's meeting. Come and give me a hand Rachel, you take Kate upstairs while I take care of Nathan and Mark."
"It's strange that you didn't ask me to take care of the two of them, perhaps you have a motion of conscience?"
"No motion, I simply know you would have protested if I did not assign Kate to you; therefore, I got the problem out of the way. Now hurry up before I change my mind."
Rachel takes Kate with her, while Dio carries Nathan and Mark keeping their hands tied. When they arrive at the car Dio says that Rachel will be driving with Kate on the passenger side, while he will be in the back with Mark and Nathan. The decisive meeting is about to take place.
