Chapter 28. Last words

Dio smiles satisfied after the blow delivered to Rachel, but there is one problem: He cannot get his arm off Rachel's body.

"What's going on? Why are you resisting so much? Let me go! DO YOU HEAR ME?!

The iris of Rachel's eyes turns gray as her stand begins to create powerful gusts of wind. The World can't get his arm off, and in response Tornado take it off with a blow.

"DAMN IT HURTS! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!"

Tornado with his power modifies the pressure around Dio Brando, exerting strong atmospheric pressure on the enemy's chest, crushing his rib cage and destroying all his ribs. Dio starts throwing up blood.

"YOU...HAVE...KILLED...CHLOEEEEE!"

A tornado begins to generate around Dio that starts tearing every flap of skin on his body and ends up severing all his limbs, with Dio ending up being thrown far from the dump, now with no chance to regenerate. It seems to be all over, but Rachel does not calm down, and the tornado begins to get bigger and bigger. Suddenly Chloe awakens, as Dio had not struck the girl's heart, thanks to the Bible given to her by Joyce a few hours earlier. She is shocked to see Rachel and the tornado, and asks Max what is happening.

"Chloe, Rachel has totally lost control of her power because she thought you were dead. If we don't do something, we risk her destroying Arcadia Bay."

"...I will go to her, and try to bring her to her senses."

"It's dangerous, you risk dying if something goes wrong."

"I'd rather die knowing I've done something than sit on my hands. I don't want Arcadia Bay to be destroyed. If I don't survive, know that you did nothing but show me your love and friendship. You made me smile and laugh, like I haven't done in years, and it's only because of you, Max."

Chloe says goodbye to Max with one last kiss and heads toward Rachel, but the wind is so strong that it hurts her and almost throws her to the ground, but with the last flashes of energy she stands in front of Rachel, who does not realize what is happening.

"RACHEL! It's Chloe, I'm not dead I'm here in front of you! Please stop before you destroy everything, try to remember the good times we had together. Don't let anger cloud your thoughts, look at me and search your memories."

Three years ago

"I love this time of night! Don't you just feel like everything's possible?"

"Rachel, stop. If you don't mean this, it's just making me feel like shit that this life you're describing isn't going to happen."

"For fuck's sake! I've never been more serious in my life. Chloe, what would it take to convince you?"

Chloe thinks about it, and she wants a kiss from Rachel.

"How about... um..."

"Oh."

Nine years ago

"Rachel listen to me, your dad is here with you. I know your arm hurts, but we will be coming down the mountain shortly and I will take you home. Just hold on to me, hang on and you will see that everything will be all right."

Now

Unexpectedly, this last memory moves Rachel, who is able to regain control of herself and her stand, suppressing her power and consequently that of the tornado, which decreases in intensity until it disappears altogether.

"Chloe, h...how are you alive? Dio has pierced you with the knife."

*Showing the Bible to Rachel* "You have to thank Kate and also Joyce, I didn't think I would be saved by a book."

"Good grie..."

Rachel does not have time to finish the sentence that she collapses to her knees, with Chloe trying to support her.

"Rachel listen, I'm going to call an ambulance now and you'll see that everything will be all right."

"I don't know if you noticed Chloe, but with this injury no one could survive, and the same goes for me. I want you and Max to listen to me before I die."

"No, please!" Says Chloe with tears in her eyes.

Max reaches Rachel and comforts both her and Chloe.

"Listen: I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused you, and for how I've behaved toward you these days. Chloe, you have always been sincere to me, and even when you told me the truth about my father I understood how much you cared for me, and I thank you. As a last favor I want you to, when you meet my father, tell him I forgive him, I don't want him to think I hated him to the last."

"I won't, I want you to do it when you see him again. You still have that stuff called stand, use it to heal yourself."

"If it were *cough* so easy I would have done it, but it's not. Besides tell my mother Rose, I love her and she's been a good mother."

"DAMN IT, IT'S NOT FAIR! IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!" Chloe yells

"Max, I owe you an apology for being so aggressive toward you. I was afraid you might leave Chloe again, and I couldn't bear to see her sad again after what she had been through. Plus Dio manipulated me so easily that I really felt stupid."

"You're not perfect at all Rachel, no one is perfect and we all make mistakes, you just have to learn from them not to repeat them again."

"You're much wiser than me Max, I give you credit for that. Promise me that you and Chloe will stay together no matter what happens, I want to die knowing that you will have each other's support."

"I *sigh* promise!" Says Max crying

"Chloe, the last thing I want to ask of you is to move on. I know you will feel terrible about my death, but think that you have Max, Joyce, and even David by your side despite being an asshole."

"If you had seen him in the last few days you would reevaluate him in a positive way."

"And if you say so Chloe, then it means something. I've already died once, and apparently fate is something inevitable if this is my epilogue again, but I'm glad I got to see you one last time. *Sigh* I love you Chloe, farewell!"

With these last words, Rachel Amber dies with a smile on her face but at the same time accompanied by the tears of someone who knew she would never see her loved one again.
