In which victory ran thick
like syrup and tasted
sweeter than cotton candy:
final part of them all-________________________-
-- [Chapter 33 - Sweets and Serves: Part 3] --
You distinctly remember the moment you fell in love with tennis. It was in middle school, when you were thirteen. What you'd thought would be your final game of the season only ended up pulling you further down the rabbit hole. How? The human mind relishes on having power over others. Whether that power comes in the form of information, materialistic goods, or status didn't matter, the only thing that did was the change in influence that came with this brand new weapon.
Knowing that you could make your opponent look at you in both fear and respect through a single unblockable shot was enough for you to get hooked onto the game, feeling a rush of adrenaline every time your opponent would fumble because of your technique.
Of course, getting highs from your perfect shots also meant you got infuriated at the subpar ones. And this, was certainly subpar. You'd shot the ball out, much to the surprise of Susami and your team. Kendo looked at you in worry, though you shrugged her off, preparing for your second serve. Playing it safe, you went in for an underhand serve to Susami's right side, one which she struggled to play back.
