Chapt. 24 ~ Prepare For The Worse

Miko and Mute raced back to London in a hurry that night. "What's going on, Miko?"

Miko remained silent. This struck Mute a bit confused. She has never seen Miko act like this before. They return home and Miko begins to grab a few of her belongings. Mute noticed Miko's fox tail and ears. She would only show her true appearance in case of emergencies... 

"Miko..." Mute lowered her head. 

"It looks like we'll have to take another trip. Things won't end well after tomorrow night." Miko said with a sigh. 

"What are you talking about?" Mute questioned while tilting her head. 

"I think I know what that Angel is up to." 

"You mean Ash?" 

"Well, more like them. He is a different person. But, besides the point, I've been keeping a close eye on that thing ever since our event at the curry festival. Did you really think I wouldn't notice that thing's motives around you?" Miko turned to Mute with a stern look.

"You weren't suppose to know..." Mute glanced away. The plan was to keep this sort of madness to herself since she hated it when Miko always stepped in when Mute was in some sort of trouble. Then again, they are best friends. 

"I will always know, Mute." Miko walked over and cupped her friend's face in her hands while giving her a gentle smile. "I've been keeping close tabs on that angel who has grown an obsession over you." 

"Huh?" Mute blinked with confusion. Miko dropped her hands from Mute's friends and went back to collecting her materials.

"Not only that, but he also won't be alone while doing this attack of his... Mute, that angel plans to burn all of London down in order to purify it. Many lives will be lost. But you have to admit, it was fun while it lasted, right? We got to see and experience many things ever since our arrival here."  

"I think I know where you're getting at." Mute sighed and closed her eyes. 'Saving a bunch of humans from an Angel. What's a world without humans after all?' A light smile spread on her face. A night to shine. "But do we have to leave?" She suddenly questioned. 

"What? I thought you wanted to travel elsewhere once we were finished here. We've been traveling for quite some time. What's the change all the sudden?.... Does it have something to do with that demon?" 

"No." Mute shook her head. 

"Then what is it?" 

Mute could only sigh as she grabbed Miko's hand and exit out of their home. "The boy is in a contract with a demon and for some reason that Angel wants his soul. Along the way, when we encountered each other, the angel suddenly wants to help me." 

"That explains a few things then. Almost like he is trying to kill two birds with one stone... A lot of potential going to waste if you ask me. And as for the demon? Why be persuaded to join forces?"
