Chapt. 42 ~ What Have You Done?

Mute walked through the large maze from the very entrance. She took her time getting to where Sebastian and Grell were. Miko stayed where she was but kept a close eye out in case she needed to step in. 'The maze is wide. It stretches and morphs to the soul's will.' Mute took notice how the maze was changing. 'How far have they gone into this maze? Have they reached the human left?'

"Mute... You came."

The woman stopped in her tracks and turned around to nobody, and nothing there. But that voice came from Alois just now. Vines from the hedges sprawled out and wrapped around Mute's body before lifting her in the air. Her eyes widen at the sudden attack before a strike of lightning slices the vines into pieces.

From above Miko's eyes were glowing purple with the pupils glowing red. "Be careful! It looks like the soul has an attachment towards you." She called out, with Mute nodding in response. Just a little further Mute was able to catch up with Sebastian who was on his next question.

"Ah, so you have decided to participate in this game?" He smirked a little when seeing Mute. For a while she was silent before walking further into the maze. She picked up the envelope and handed it to Sebastian when he was standing behind her.

"Answer the questions and solve the riddles, and the maze will react to your answer. That's how this maze works controlled by the soul user."

"Intervening." Mute corrected. "Once I get to your Master's body I can pull Alois's mind out. Ciel will have control over his body again and I can still manage to save Alois's soul from Hannaha and Claude." 

"You plan to take a soul from 2 demons?" Sebastian gave her a questioning look and she nodded. Without replying with another word, Mute's body turned black, and her silhouette sunk into the ground. The shadow slithered along the ground and the walls before reaching the tower where 'Ciel' and Hannah stood. Slowly, Mute returned to her form and quickly restrained Hannah with her black tendrils, also covering her mouth. 

Alois heard her grunts of struggle, causing him to turn around just as Mute placed her palm on his forehead. "Let him in." Once demanded in a whisper, everything for Alois had went black. Hannah screamed underneath the restraints of the tendrils as she struggled. 

'What is she doing this time?!' Her thoughts screamed. From the maze below, Claude got notice of this and acted quickly. 

"When will you learn to obey the rules, my sweet?" He smirked. Claude sprinted through the maze, avoiding the falling statues, collums, and whipping thorns, but was stopped by a knife nearly slicing the flesh of his cheek.  "Finally caught up with me, Sebastian Michaelis?" 

Ciel's eyes blinked rapidly before realizing where he was, and seeing how close Mute was. "Mute?" 

"You don't have much time. You still wear his ring, which means his soul is tide to your body." Mute said quickly while turning to look at the maze, indicating where Sebastian was. 

"Then it's a good thing I've had enough time to think." Ciel walked toward the ledge and began to shout. "Sebastian!"
