It had been weeks since the deal was made. Claude would allow Mute to keep the ring as long as she became his mate. For a change, he respected her space but kept her remained in one of the guest bedrooms of the Trancy Estate. Mute sat on the bed while she held Alois's ring in her hand, caressing the red jewl against her cheek. 'I can still save him... His soul is still here...' She told herself repeatedly. It had been days since her agreement with Claude. She didn't care how many days had passed. Mute didn't care if Miko or Sebastian were worrying about her. She had Alois's soul, now she can save it. But not with Claude around. 'He still plans to use his soul somehow. I need to keep it out of his sight.'

3 knocks were heard beyond the bedroom door before Hannah had entered. "Claude has ordered me to keep you company while he is away." She informs. Mute stared at her for a moment before giving her a nod and turning her gaze back to the ring in her palm. A silence filled the room before Mute spoke to Hannah,

"Hannah," Hannah gasped and jolted from the sudden voice in her head. Mute's gaze was back to the maid's. "You were the most abused servant here. You hold a connection to this human's soul." Hannah remained silent. She could only frown and look down at the floor. "What was Alois to you?"

"My Highness..." She muttered out.

'Much more than that...' Mute sighed and slowly got up from the bed. "Am I allowed to explore the estate?"

"Yes, of course, Milady. But I will have to accompany you." Mute didn't say another word when walking out of the room. Hannah stayed close behind her as they wandered the halls. "Is...there some place you wish to be in the manor?" Hannah asked, breaking the dreadful silence.

Mute shook her head in response as she continued to walk through the halls. Eventually, the two made it out to the garden. Mute stared down at the flowers, her mind wondering to pass the time. Questions, once again, filled her head but kept them to herself. Suddenly she felt a sudden sting in her chest.

Something was wrong.

Mute turned to face Hannah with a glare. Hannah took notice of this and flinched, sensing the dangerous vibe coming from her. "Where is Claude?"

"He...He said he would be out for the day. He did not say where." Hannah answered while bowing her head to avoid Mute's gaze.

The woman in pink faded into a misty shadow to transport herself in the mansion. She went to each room and found no sight of Claude. Something felt off. Something was wrong. Mute could feel it. Worry swirled inside of her. Before Mute could make it to the front doors Timber appeared in front of her and held her wrist. Mute hissed in a demand to let her go.

"You cannot leave the mansion." Timber reminded her quietly yet softly.

'If that spider is nowhere inside the manor, then where did he go?!' Mute continued her struggles. Moments later the front doors opened, and the servants lined up, Timber releasing Mute in the process.

"His Highness has returned." Claude's voice rang with pride. Mute's eyes grew wide when seeing who the demon was carrying in his arms.
