Very late into the night, Satine sleeps soundly in bed, where she lies curled in a ball and hugs the comforter to her chest beside Peter, who remains wide awake, staring down at her with a smile.
Slow and quiet, he pushes the blankets off of his legs and stands to pull on a black hoodie and sweats. He turns on the dim light of the Himalayan rock lamp placed in the middle of the table before he leans his fist on the bed and grazes the back of his finger to her cheek.
"Satine." He whispers while pushing her hair behind her ear. "Love, wake up."
"Hmm." Her brows twitch.
"Satine." He smiles softly.
"Hmm?" She furrows her brows while backing up a bit.
"Come on." He pushes the blanket off and she just groans in complaint. "Get up." He grabs her hands and gently pulls.
"No." She mumbles.
"Yes." He pulls on her leg to drag her closer.
"Babe." She calls in a straight monotone as he gets her to sit up. "Baby."
"Yeah?" He holds back a laugh.
"Do you know what time it is?"
"Uh..." He looks at the digital clock with furrowed brows and slowly smiles a bit. "Two in the morning."
"It's two o'clock in the morning." She nods surely. "Ever heard of homocide?"
"Have not." He shakes his head while pulling her forward.
"It's what happens when a boyfriend wakes his tired girlfriend in the middle of a very good nights sleep with no reason to explain himself and she stabs him through the heart."
He sits her at the desk chair tosses pants at her as she talks and chuckles when she's done.
"Oh, that's cool." He teases as she pulls on her pants and she slowly grins a bit.
"Where're we going?" She pouts as he pushes on her shoes.
"It's a surprise." He smirks and she grins at him in tired suspicion.
"I don't trust you."
"Hey, at least it's not Sam or Bucky waking you." He smiles sweetly and quietly while tying her laces. "You trust me, I love you, we're not going anywhere bad." He stands. "You'll love it." He puts his hand out and she hesitantly takes it to stand and follow him out of the room. "You'll get to sleep in with no complaint today." He lays his arm over her shoulders for her to hug his waist from the side.
"I do that anyway." She closes her eyes and he smiles slightly.
"All the time."
He gets her into his car and they soon pull out of the very large garage to start heading down the driveway under the dark sky. He eventually makes a supposedly random turn down a gravel path between the miles of tree-filled land and her brows furrow in confusion. She looks around for a moment and turns her head to lazily face him, catching his attention.
"I know where I'm going." He turns back to the road lit up by only the headlights.
"I still don't trust you." She smirks softly while staring at him through her lashes.
"I think, you'll love where I'm taking you." He nods while placing his hand on her thigh.
"If you've taken me out here to kill me after five years, it was nice knowing you." She rests her head on her fist and he chuckles.
"It's a surprise, Darling, I won't tell." He shakes his head.
She smiles slightly with a sigh and turns forward again. She looks at him as he rubs his face, controlling the wheel with his knee, and just stares for the moment. She scooches closer to the door, but leans towards him to wrap her arm around his and hug him tight with her head on bicep. She closes her eyes and tilts her head down while he grins ahead.
Soon enough, the texture of the road changes and the car becomes slightly rockier and slows to a stop and Satine picks her head up to see what he seems so adamant about her loving. She releases her hold on him and sits up as he reaches in the backseat to grab a rolled-up blanket.
"Come on." He whispers with a sideways nod as he opens his door.
She watches him for a second and slowly exits the car as he moves to the front of it. She looks to where the car seems to be pointing to find a lake flowing not too far away behind a few small layers of trees. The moon light shimmers on the surface, shining brightly in the dark.
"What're we doing out here?" She closes her door with a small smile.
"I remember being told recently that someone liked the idea of a late night drive." He smirks a proud smile and she breathes a shy chuckle while pulling her bottom lip between her teeth and rubbing up and down her thighs. "And seeing an ocean at night."
"You stayed up for this?" She asks weakly with a soft squeak in her voice.
"I know we can't really go to an ocean," he takes her hand, "but we have the lakes." They start heading for the sand. "And we have the rivers and the ponds. And I just wanted to do this for you." He looks down at her. "See that smile."
"You see it everyday." She shakes her head.
"Not like this one, though." He sighs. "Something about this one is different."
"It's because I'm tired and in shock." She jokes and he snickers lightly. "And I just want to go to bed, but I like it here too."
"Good." He nods as they come to a stop.
He lays down the blanket with her help to keep it flat before they sit themselves right next to each other. He sits with his legs out, leaning back on his hands while she pulls her legs up, hanging her arms around them to hold them in place with her fingers locking them in.
"It's so pretty out here." She sighs.
"I knew you'd like it." He grins. "I mean, I know how much you love to go to the lake at Tony's and I figured that maybe if I woke you up to this, you wouldn't hate me for waking you up at all." He nods sideways and she chuckles.
"I would never hate you." She shakes her head with a soft smirk and he turns to look at her. "And this is a very nice surprise, thank you, Малыш."
"You're welcome." He pushes his fingers in her hair on the back of her neck.
He pulls her a bit closer while moving up himself and presses a kiss to her temple. He backs away while sliding his hand across her back to begin rubbing up and down as she grins gleefully into her knees.
