Through the serenity of a deep sleep, Peter's jolted awake by a break in the silence. He lifts his head and cranes his ears towards the door, leading him to find that the sound is coming from his daughters room. His brows furrow as he quickly, but gently sits up and pushes himself out of bed, sure to keep Satine asleep. He hurries to her and opens her door and she turns to him, covering her mouth to muffle her fearful sobs.

He picks her up as he sits beside her and cradles her in his arms. His knee bounces beneath her as he runs his fingers through her hair, pushing the large curls away from her face. Now that she is in his arms, she can try her best to calm down, but it takes a good minute for her lungs to catch up with her and even then, she gasps for the right breath against his chest.

"What was that about?" He speaks softly with his hand on her cheek and she takes a deep shaky breath.

"Momma." She cries and he sighs.

His eyes close as he pulls her closer and he turns her to make her hug him tight.

"Do you wanna go sleep in our bed?" He rubs her back and she nods.

He picks her up as he stands and carries her through the living room and into his bedroom. He sets her on his side of the bed and she crawls over to her mom, jolting her awake with the slight movements. She spots Anya through her drozzyness and wraps her arm around her as she lies down, pulling her close into her chest.

Peter sits down beside them with a sigh as Satine drifts right back to sleep and Anya makes herself comfortable against her shirt. He hangs his head and rubs his eyes, fearing for the affect this all could have left on her young mind.

Later on in the evening, the Parker's arrive at the compound to spend the day around the family. Instead of using the elevator to go up a floor, Satine decides that she wants to take the steps, to push herself a little further than she has recently. She may be doing a hell of a lot better than she was, but she was advised to not push it too much.

So up the stairs they go while Satine grazes her hand along the railing to boost herself to the next step. Until she stops at the feel of a sudden stress, a deep dent, almost like the railing was crushed. She looks down and Anya and Peter look back at her.

"I thought you were dead." She states between scared sobs and he hangs his head and squeezes his eyes shut.

"Ugh, God, I'm so sorry." He sighs.

"Where are you?!" She chokes while gripping her shirt and the staircase railing beside her.

"Anya, go on up." Peter urges kindly and she hurries on. "We'll be there soon."

As quick as Anya leaves, Peter places his hand on Satine's shoulder and her brows wrinkle, breathing slightly heavily through her lips. He looks down at what she's holding and his brows furrow.

"Did you do that?"

"When you were gone." She mumbles as she turns away from it. "And you called me to tell me where they were holding you." She begins to grip the railing before her chin quivers. "I can't do that anymore." She whimpers breathlessly and he sighs.

"Baby, it's temporary." He cups her cheeks.

"You don't know that." She turns away from him to sit on the step beneath her and he hangs his head, knowing that he's just lying through his hope.
