After the fight with Thanos and the move from the tower to the compound, Satine and Peter spent the remaining weeks as Junior's living in May's apartment. They shared a room there, but of course, May was not completely for it, so she stuck Peter in the top bunk and Satine in the bottom. When school was over, they spent half of the summer in Queens with Ned before they moved to the compound, two hours away from home.

This leaves them with a brand new home that would take them forever to find their way around and a brand new school that took them about a week to understand.

As Seniors, they walked in their without a fear, knowing they'd have each other through it all. Though to have Ned there wouldn't be so bad.

Stepping into their first class, the pair heads directly to the back row in the middle of the room. They take their new seats beside each other as the class starts to fill and she turns to him as he looks around.

"This place is so small." He scrunches up his nose.

"Ah, rich boy, no?" She smirks, her accent at it's peak, and he smiles. "When was the last time you stepped into a small big building?"

"Middle school?" He shrugs with a breathy chuckle.

"Spoiled." She shakes her head and he laughs once in doubt. "I grew up isolated to one building." She puts her finger up.

"Was it a big building?" He raises a brow and she smiles.

"Very."

"I win." He shrugs and she chuckles with an eye roll.

He lays his arm over her shoulders as the bell rings the teacher comes in to introduce herself and explain how she will be running her class for the year.

With about thirty minutes left in class, she leaves all the students be to socailize with their life long classmates, short term, or the new comers.

Satine reaches for his hair to fix the baby strays around his face as he rummages through her bag to make sure she has everything she needs for this class. She sits back and he sets the bag on the floor between their desks before he lays his arm over the back of her chair, just as the girl in front of them turns around.

"You two are new to this school, right?" She asks and they nod. "I'm Rachel."

"Julia." Her friends grins.

"Peter." He nods kindly, though to not talk to them at all would be very acceptable.

"Satine."

"Whoa, are you Russian?" Rachel asks quickly and she nods. "Are you?" She points.

"No." He shakes his head with a small smile.

"Did you come here together?" Julia's brows furrow.

"I'm a runaway." Satine tilts her head. "I followed him."

"Wow." Rachel sighs a smile. "That's some true love right there." She states and Julia nudges her shoulder as the pair grin slightly with their chins lowered.

"What?" She whispers. "I'm just saying."

"Turn forward." She instructs with a chuckle. "Leave them alone."

She rolls her eyes and does as told and Satine and Peter look to each other with small smiles. She chuckles lightly while laying her head on his shoulder and he smiles down at her, taking her hand in his on his lap.

Satine sighs as her eyes come from the ceiling to the window and her head jolts to the side. Wanda turns her attention away from her magizine and folds it shut beside her.

"What's wrong?" She softly calls out to her.

She hesitates to move, being how hard it is in the first place, and takes a deep breath with a slow blink.

"Peter?"

"He's not here right now." Nat states kindly. "Do you want us to call him back? He's still in the building."

"Where's Anya?"

"Bucky, Sam, and Pietro are keeping an eye on her." Wanda sits forward.

"I need her." She breathes.

"Okay." She nods while standing. "I'll call Pietro and Peter can bring her up."

She leaves the room with her phone to her ear and Nat leans a bit closer from the windowseat. With a better view of Satine, she can see the look on her face, completely devoid of emotions, and the fade in her eyes...the way it seems as though there is nothing behind them. She's there, but she's not really there.

-

About ten minutes later, Peter is holding Anya on his hip in the elevator while she hugs tight to his neck. He knows very well that she would give anything not to be there and around all of the negative energy that all hospitals must bear on the shoulder of it's thick walls, but when Satine calls, they're up and running. She needs them now more than she's ever needed anyone before.

They get to the room and he places her on her feet as the ladies take their leave. Anastasia hesitates as Satine spots her and she puts her hand out with a small smile. She looks up at Peter and he takes her hand to slowly and gently pull her towards the bed. He sits her on the end and she turns to her teary eyed mom while picking at her bottom lip. For a moment, she's too afraid to move.

She takes a deep breath and gets to her hands and knees to crawl up the bed as Satine lays her arm out for her to lay her head down. She hugs her tight while hiding in her chest, head against her heart, as Peter pulls the blanket over the two. He swipes Satine's hair out of her face as a tear slips down her cheek.

She buries herself in her hair and he sits in the seat and rubs his mouth before he reaches to place his hand on her cheek.

And though he can hear her heart rate on the monitor, beeping for the past two weeks, and he can hear it beating slowly in her chest, he takes her hand in his and slides his touch up her wrist. Just to feel it. He just needs to feel it for certain and know that, at least for now, she's still here. And for now, she's not going anywhere.
