I forgive you, though it was tough
To let go of that hurtful stuff.
Our hearts were once two halves of a whole
But now you've shattered my very soul.
I forgive you for the words you said,
That hurt me deeply and left me in dread.
I choose to forget and move ahead,
And leave the past where it now should rest.
With tears streaming down my face
I couldn't help but feel so misplaced.
But holding onto anger and pain
Would only leave me drained.
I forgive you for the times you failed,
And the promises you never fulfilled.
My faith in you may have been frail,
But I now find peace and let my heart be stilled.
I hold no grudges, no bitterness,
For I refuse to let hate take its caress.
I forgive you, and I set myself free,
And find true happiness and tranquility.
In this moment of sweet release,
I can now find my inner peace.
I forgive you, I truly do
And I hope you can forgive me too.
So let us bury our conflicts and strife,
And begin anew with love and life.
I forgive you, and I hope you can see,
That forgiveness brings joy and sets us free.
