"We should celebrate." he suddenly broke the silence once I was done. He stood up from his chair, walked to a cabinet by his left, took out a bottle of supposedly wine, and 2 glasses. He returned back to the desk and placed the glasses on it before pouring wine into both of them.
He handed me one of the glasses and raised his, "to success," he said with a smile.
"To success," I repeated, raising my glass as well before taking a sip out of it. Damn it was good.
After a minute of another silence, I decided to ask a question that was bugging me.
"I know this is not my buisness but I'm still going to ask anyway" I started, "why would a man like yourself, who owns all of these, go to a cheap bar to get drunk?" I finished.
"I just needed that at that moment. That is all I can say, " he simply said.
"Fair enough," I nodded.
Just then, a telephone rang beside him, and he picked it up, pressed it to his ear, and spoke to whoever was on the line.
I just took another sip of my wine while still admiring his well arranged office.
"Send him in." he put the phone down. About five seconds later, a young man well dressed in a suit walked in.
He came up beside the desk where we sat, gave a little bow, and greeted "Your Highness," which definitely left me confused.
I looked at the young man and then at Nicholas, who seemed to be face palming himself."How many times have I told you not to say that here?" he sounded somewhat annoyed
"Forgive me," the young man gave a little bow again.
Okay, what was going on here?
"What is the news?" Nicholas then asked.
"Your uncle demands to see you. He's calling a meeting with the council," the young man replied.
I, on the other hand, felt unnecessarily awkward, so I just kept sipping my wine.
"He says it's about..." he paused and glanced at me. As much as I wanted to mind my buisness, I couldn't help it when they were literally talking in front of me, and It seemed the young man was uncomfortable sharing his information.
What did he expect me to do, though? Get up and leave?
"It's okay, go ahead," Nicholas urged him.
"It's about the throne." When I heard that, I paused and looked at the man then at Nicholas.
What the actual hell was going on.
First, your highness, then throne. Something was definitely wrong here.
"Thank you Andy, you may go now," he told the man, and he left.
I dropped my glass on the desk and asked, "What is going on?"
"Well, I was going to tell you when the time is right, but since this already happened, I guess I should just tell you now," he said
"Tell me what?"
"How do I say this.." he sighed, "I come from a royal family. " My eyes widened in mortification. I opened my mouth to exclaim, but nothing actually came out, just air.
I didn't know how to take this revelation, it was a lot. Like a whole freaking lot. I didn't know how to react, what to say or worse, what to do.
"I am to be the next king." The moment those words left his mouth, I jolted out of my chair. I suddenly was so worked up, I started pacing back and forth.
