Shit!

I was still very pissed off as we made our way back home. My mission had failed, and I had no idea what to do. I started trying to get in touch with Eve, but it wasn't going through.

I was getting frustrated already.

"All hope isn't lost, my queen, we will find another way." Alma tried to cheer me up.

We arrived back home, and I walked inside the building. The minute I got to the living room, I stopped in my tracks.

Nicholas was sitting on the sofa, legs crossed. When he heard us come in, he turned towards us and stood up. I was surprised because I wasn't expecting him.

So many emotions swirled around me at that moment. I was happy to see him but then again, I was angry at him. I was in the hospital just 2 days ago and he didn't come to see me then. Why was he here now?

I didn't know what to say, I just stood there frozen on my feet and speechless. Alma greeted him and left instantly, giving us some space and privacy.

"Where did you go? You are supposed to be resting" was the first thing he said after breaking the awkward silence.

"I hardly think you care," I spat, finally moving my feet and walking around the sofa. I dropped my bag on it and walked to the kitchen to grab some water.

"I have put everything in place for you. Whatever you need will be brought to you. You are not to leave this house for any reason, " he said, following behind me.

I chose to ignore what he just said in order not to get angry. I might be trying to prove myself innocent and get him back, but that didn't mean I was going to take the treatment he was giving me.

I never expected that things would be like this. I expected him to try to believe me even if it was just a little,  I expected him to listen to me, to hear me out, to give me the benefit of the doubt because he loved me.

But he didn't.

And I had to bear all that because I knew that soon the truth would come out and he would eat his words and see that I was different and that all women weren't the same.

"I am not a prisoner, I can go anywhere I want. Besides, your guards are all over me 24/7." I said, pouring myself a glass of water and gulping it down.

"You are pregnant with my child," he said, and I whipped my head around to look at him.

"Our child," I corrected. "I am pregnant with our child. This baby belongs to me as well," I said, and he suddenly turned speechless. He just stared at me, and I stared at him right back. I wanted to lash out at him, pour my frustration, and transfer all the aggression to him, but when I looked at him, I couldn't.

I walked towards him until I was standing directly in front of him. "It breaks my heart that you don't believe me, Nicholas..." I started, and he instantly looked away from me. His reaction made my heart squeeze inside my chest.

"Don't look away from me, Nicholas," I told him, but he didn't look at me still. I had to cup his cheeks and make him look at me. To my surprise, he didn't object or try to stop me. He looked at me, and I could see the pain in his eyes.
