The holidays were here, and it was the Christmas season.
The doctor had already confirmed that I was seven weeks along, and my stomach was still flat as ever, of course.
The palace had been fully decorated, same with the roads and the streets, everywhere was looking beautiful in preparation for Christmas, which was two days away.
I woke up, and the first thing I saw was Nicholas's smile. He was probably staring at me while I was asleep, I had caught him doing that a lot. A wide smile spread across my lips as I opened my eyes fully and looked at him.
"Good morning, my queen," he greeted, smiling at me.
"Good morning, my king," I replied, and he leaned in and placed a kiss on my lips.
The fact that I got to wake up beside him every single day was the best feeling ever. It gladdened my heart to see him smile at me every morning and give me a good morning kiss. It was something I had never gotten in any of my past relationships, so I appreciated it so much.
And I would give anything to keep having it and not lose it.
"Were you watching me sleep?" I asked him.
"I was. You looked so beautiful and peaceful, " he complimented, and It made me blush.
"I got you breakfast in bed," he then said, surprising me.
"Really?" I asked, sitting up on the bed and resting my back on the headboard. That's when I noticed the small wooden breakfast tray with food on it, towards the edge of the bed.
He carried it carefully and placed it astride my lap. The smell of toast immediately drifted into my nose, I closed my eyes and inhaled, taking it all in. After which, I opened my eyes and looked at the tray, there was toast, scrambled eggs, strawberries, and grapes, and what I assumed was a protein milkshake.
My stomach started rumbling at the sight of them all.
"You were sleeping for so long, I knew you
"You would be hungry once you woke up." He said."Thank you, you're so sweet," I acknowledged, and he smiled at me.
I started digging in, feeling so hungry all of a sudden."There is a charity function I need to attend today," Nicholas said, standing up.
"Really?" I mumbled, with food in my mouth.
"Yes. Every Christmas, the royal family sends gifts to all the citizens of Roosevelt, especially the orphanages. My father always did it, so now I have to continue in his footsteps, " he said, opening the closet and taking out a suit.
"I'd love you to come with me, but I don't want to stress you in your condition." he placed it carefully on the bed and looked at me.
"I want to come," I told him.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm sure," I confirmed, "and I'm fine, you need to stop worrying about me," I said.
"I will always worry about you," he said, walking around the bed to kiss my forehead.
"But okay, I'd love for you to be by my side." He said.
