I woke up to the smell of smoke.
I arose from bed and started sniffing in the air. It smelt like burnt food. I couldn't exactly tell what food it was, but I knew it was burnt food.
I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming before making my next move.
I got out of bed, wondering what the hell was going on. I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, and I saw Nicholas struggling with a pan that was emitting black fumes.
My lips parted in shock and amazement.
"What are you doing?" I asked, fighting back a laugh. He was shirtless again but at that moment I didn't really pay attention to his sexy body, rather I paid attention to the frustrated expression he had on his face.
He turned around to look at me, probably a tiny bit embarrassed that I caught him.
"Did I wake you? I really didn't mean to" that was the first thing that came out of his mouth. He felt bad, how sweet of him.
"I'm sure you didn't," I said in amusement. I noticed the mess he had made so far, a lot of spoons and bowls scattered across the counter.
"Seriously, what were you doing?" I asked again, I was genuinely curious.
"I was trying to make breakfast," he said and that was it for me. I couldn't hold the laughter in anymore, I burst out laughing. I couldn't even tell if he was joking or serious.
"I'm sorry," I said, pausing my laughter, "you..." I pointed at him, "...the king of Roosevelt... is making breakfast?" That sounded absolutely ridiculous to me.
"Yes Crystal, I was making breakfast," he confirmed. I was somewhat glad he didn't take offense at my mockery.
I moved in closer to the stove to check out what he burnt and I saw a black round thingy on the pan. It sort of looked like pancakes but they were terribly burnt.
Was he really trying to make breakfast?
"You are serious," I then said.
"Of course I am," he said.
"Why?" I asked, confused. I mean he had never tried to do that before. Why now?
"I just wanted to, I thought I could," he admitted. I don't know why but he looked so innocent and freaking handsome as he admitted that.
"Well, I'm sure you can if you learn," I told him.
"Will you teach me?" He surprised me by asking. I narrowed my eyes at him as if thinking about it.
"I could teach you, but I don't remember that being part of the contract," I told him.
He smiled, "we could easily slip that in" he suggested.
"I don't know, we may have to sign a fresh contract for that." I teased. Just then, I noticed two glasses of white liquid in front of a used blender. I quickly made my way to it and held one in my hand.
"Is this..." I trailed off
"Yes, I made some smoothies." Once again, he surprised me by saying. He was definitely full of surprises this morning.
