My cheeks were blazing hot.
Nicholas had left my room after asking me to go on a date with him. He didn't say where we were going, only that it was a surprise. So he left me alone to get ready.
I was still frozen for a minute after he left. I couldn't believe what had just happened. I was smiling so much to myself that my cheeks started to hurt.
I sat on my bed and fell backwards on it, staring at the ceiling and daydreaming. I was finally with Nicholas. Nicholas was in love with me. What more could I possibly ask for?
I was his wife, I was a queen, and I was carrying his child.
Oh my god.
It was all so overwhelming, but in a good way, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't bring myself to stop smiling. I kept recalling his confession over and over again in my mind.
The sound of my door opening and closing brought me out of my daze, and I rose to see who it was. It was Ruby.
"I see he has left," Ruby started walking towards me but paused when she saw me smiling. "You're smiling." she was surprised and fascinated by it.
"Nicholas just left your room, and you're smiling." her words only made me blush even more.
"Oh my gosh! Tell me everything," she squealed, hurrying to me and sitting next to me on the bed. I looked at her, not knowing what to say first or where to start.
"He confessed his feelings for me, Ruby," I told her excitedly.
"No way," she said in shock, eyes wide open.
"He said the L word," I added.
"Oh my gosh!" She exclaimed. "He said he loves you?" She asked, and I nodded, smiling widely.
"Oh my gosh, that is so freaking romantic," she exclaimed again, covering her open mouth with her hands.
"He even asked me to be his wife for real," I said to her.
"Oh my gosh, my heart can not take this," she said and fell back on the bed dramatically. I chuckled as I watched her fake faint and then rose again.
"Do you know what this means?" She asked, and I nodded, "You are his wife and queen for real. You two are already legitimately married. Oh my!" she exclaimed for the hundredth time and stood up, taking a few steps away, "I'm going to be bragging about you to all my friends and haters," she said, and I giggled. Of course, she would, typical Ruby.
"I'm gonna be like 'Hey! My sister is a queen, you better respect me bitch!'." She demonstrated, and I laughed aloud at her silliness.
"Crystal, I'm so happy for you" She came back to sit next to me, staring at me affectionately.
"Thank you Ruby," I said to her.
"I would give anything to be you right now," she said, "I'm so glad to see this happy" she wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly. I hugged her back, feeling happy that she was always happy for me.
