"I came here for you, Crystal," Brent said, with a stupid ridiculous smile plastered on his face.
The first thing that came to my mind was that he was crazy or high because how could he travel all the way here, to Roosevelt, to tell me such nonsense?
Brent was the last guy I dated before I decided I wouldn't date anymore because I had concluded that men were selfish jerks.
I would say I was pretty much stupid when we started dating because he didn't even properly ask me to be his girlfriend, I just deduced that by myself because of the fake affection that he showed to me. I was so in love and carried away that I didn't realise that he was just using me.
We were in a relationship for just a month, and he swayed me with all his sweet words and gestures just to get me in his bed. And after he did, he disappeared, leaving me heartbroken.
So I had to move on with my life.
So how dare he come here and tell me that he was here for me?
"Have you lost your mind?" I recovered from my shock and said. "I am married, in case you didn't realise," I pointed out spitefully.
"Oh, I know, and I know that it is a contract marriage," he said, sending me to another round of shock. How the hell did he know that?
"What?" I uttered, surprised.
"Yeah, Ruby told me all about that a few months back," My lips were parted in bewilderment. How could Ruby do that? Why would she do that?
"I don't know what you're talking about, but I am married to the king and we are very happy together" I tried to deny it nevertheless and also rub it in his face in the process.
If he thought that I would be moping around and waiting for him to come back to me, then he was most certainly crazy.
"Is that so?" He asked, tilting his head to the side, and he stared at me.
"You know what, I don't even know why I am here listening to you. I don't owe you any explanation, you can think whatever the hell you wanna think" I said and started walking away but just as I was about to walk past his side, he grabbed my arm, stopping me.
"Crystal..." he said. I looked down at his hand around my upper arm, and then looked up at him.
"...I messed up real bad, I hurt you, and I'm sorry. I missed you, and I came all the way here to apologise to you and ask you to give me a second chance," he said, with absolute sincerity. At least, that was what it looked like.
I didn't believe him, of course. I had no idea why he was here or what he wanted from me, but I was not at all interested in anything. My feelings for him died months ago, and even if I hadn't met Nicholas, I would have not given him a bloody second chance.
He could kiss my ass for all I Cared!
I was just about to give a reply to him when I heard a voice that made me jerk away from his hold.
"Is there a problem here?" Nicholas walked in on us and asked, staring at Brent weirdly.
"No, there isn't," I quickly walked away from him and towards Nicholas. "Let us go back to the party," I said, pulling Nicholas with me.
