Bella took a sip of her coffee at the kitchen table. It wasn't just any coffee. It was a special kind of coffee that her new roommate, Fern, has been making her every morning. It tasted really good. However, most humans wouldn't dare to try a sip if they learn first hand about the coffee's ingredients.
Like a lot of coffees, it had caffeine, but some of the ingredients were insects, which you could see floating around in the nice hot liquid. Spiders. Flies. Even ants.
Bella didn't mind the way the coffee was made. It's not like most of the food consumed by demons didn't have insects or other bugs as the ingredients. Though, Bella failed to understand the humans' taste for certain foods.
Bella had learned that humans have standards when it comes to food. They preferred the kind of food on Earth with the same regular kinds like pizza, spaghetti, even bread. Some could be picky eaters sometimes, mostly the younger ones.
"Bugs aren't that bad when you actually try them for the first time," Bella once said to one of the Apples, Bakugo. "Just because something looks gross doesn't mean it tastes bad."
Speaking of coffee, Bella had noticed that Fern had been very nice and affectionate towards her, as the newt not only made coffee and breakfast for the demon every morning, she had also given her strategy suggestions, helped her out with her everyday tasks and errands, had given her nice and kind compliments, and even reminded her that she was beautiful and beloved, which started after she found out what happened with Stanford and his brother. The newt even had the habit of constantly wrapping her tail around her waist and even her ankles, which the demon couldn't help but find really cute.
Bella didn't think too much of the affections the newt had given her. She mainly thought that the affections were just a way of expressing friendship and definitely not romantic gestures.
However, V spoke otherwise soon after Fern had left the kitchen to give Bella some privacy to eat her breakfast. Just like the coffee, the food Fern would make for Bella had bugs in them.
The demon was served pale white waffles with wiggling worms sticking out, the topping being tasty pink jam. A lot of people found the food to be gross, but it was pretty good despite that. Fern was happy that at least someone on Earth liked Amphibian foods. It was quite normal to eat bugs back in her homeworld, Amphibia.
As Bella ate her breakfast, V and the Cherubs ate at the table as usual, though Tessa decided to eat in her room most of the time, so it was just the five of them.
Since Dissembly Drones need to drink oil to survive, Bella have been scavenging leftover oil from the corpses of worker drones to provide for V and sometimes N.
The Cherubs had made their own breakfast, eating tasty pancakes with syrup, with a drink. Collin had apple juice, Keenie had orange juice, and Cletus had a glass of milk.
"Fern really has it out for you, doesn't she?" V said as she sipped out of a glass of leftover oil Bella had scavenged.
Bella was taking a sip out of her coffee, and hearing what V just said, swallowed hard and looked at her with a confused look. "What do you mean?"
"I mean she likes you."
"That's true. She's a good friend." With that, Bella began taking a sip out of her coffee again while V narrowed her eyes.
"No. She likes likes you. Has a crush. Like you feel about Dipper?"
Bella spit her coffee out and looked at V with shock. "What? That's main ridiculous. She's just a friend."
"It's pretty obvious," V spoke, crossing her arms. "More obvious than Dipper and June. She makes you breakfast every morning, she comes up with helpful strategy suggestions, she helps you with your errands, and she constantly wraps her tail around you."
