Chapter 32

A few days before the Fourth of July party....

Even though Bella had been on Earth for almost two months,  there were still things she wanted to learn about. Not just learn about, but experience as well.

Bella had been to a lot of Mabel's sleepovers, and they always talked about one thing in particular: boys. Not befriending males. No, Mabel and her friends were talking about boyfriends.

Romance was a pretty popular thing along  girls. Once girls had reached puberty or their older teens, they were suddenly in the boy-crazy phrase. Mabel was more crazy about boys than anyone, and Bella had heard of the many boys she had fallen in love with during the previous summer.

Mermando, a merman about Mabel's age who once ended up trapped in the pool, but thankfully got home thanks to Mabel's kindness.

Gabe, a young handsome boy who loved puppets a bit too much to the point where he often made out with his own.

Serval Timez, a boy band who were actually mistreated clones, set free by Mabel and her friends after their cruel boss got arrested.

And then there was Mabel's first boyfriend, Norman, who turned out to be a bunch of insane gnomes looking for a wife to be their queen and rule the forests they live in.

However, just when Bella thought Mabel only liked boys, she introduced her to her new newt friend, Fern, and after telling her about Amphibia, Mabel decided to bring up the fact that she had met and fell in love with a blue frog from Fern's homeland.

"Just before I met you, Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford brought home this strange music box from their travels," Mabel had once explained. "Looking at it, I thought, 'there has to be something special about it', so I tried everything I could to find out. When I opened it, I was sucked into a different world, in a town called Wartwood, where I met this frog, Maddie. A lot of people thought she was weird, and I did too, but I loved that about her. She was beautiful, creepy, and above all, awesome. We spent some time together for a few days, and on the last day I saw her, I accidentally kissed her on the lips. She wasn't mad though, she was smiling while blushing.  Then, she told me that she loved me. Like really loved me. And she asked if I wanted to go out with her sometime. I was flattered, and at that moment, I thought 'was she my true love'?"

"Aww," Bella thought the love story between Mabel and Maddie was pretty cute. The fact that they had fallen in love so fast and that Maddie just asked her to be her girlfriend was so heartwarming.

"Unfortunately, before I could even answer, a portal opened up and someone had grabbed me and forced me through even before I could even say yes," Mabel said sadly. "As it turns out, my family noticed that I was missing, and they activated the box. I didn't see Maddie again after that. I was devastated, even more so when I found out Ford had gotten rid of the box, and what's worse, was that I couldn't even tell him about Maddie, the blue frog that could've been my girlfriend and even my wife if I had the chance to tell her that I would love to be her girlfriend."

Bella felt very sorry. It wasn't fair that Mabel was ripped away from the very love life that would've been more healthy, loving, and perfect, let alone even lasting forever. Bella saw how as Candy placed her hand on Mabel's shoulder to comfort her, while Grenda allowed her to lean into her chest.

Bella narrowed her eye as she let a low growl escape, catching the three girls attention. "Um, Bella, you okay?" Grenda asked, looking at the demon concern.

"Mabel, did your grunkles or anyone else tell you how they got rid of the music box? Like, did they tell you what happened to it or where it was?" The demon asked in a serious tone.

"Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford refused to tell me where it was because they don't want me to put myself in danger because of it," Mabel frowned. "Though, Wendy was there when it happened, and she told me everything. They shipped it off to Los Angeles, and she heard the people put it in a thrift store."
