Present day...
Elaine rolled her eyes as Dutch repeatedly screamed at Billie. The serval didn't even have the patience for this. Everyone, including the three other people who had came with them, Barnaby, Fantoccio, and Scrimshaw, tried to calm the wolf down.
Elaine glared with a scowl. She haven't seen Bella in a while lately, because the demon was pretty much occupied herself with being on her guard for any of her dad's attacks or tricks.
Elaine didn't blame Bella for being on guard though. The serval remembered coming across her father many years ago. Elaine wished she could just forget about the incident.
Bill Cipher had fooled her with all his trickery and flattery. She made a deal with him, and almost paid the complete price when she almost lost her crew. She despised Bill ever since.
That was why she and Bella came to a rocky start at first. However, Elaine eventually learned that Bella, despite being Bill's daughter, had no desire for world dominance or anyone's pain and suffering.
The demon was many things, but deceiving, malicious, cruel, heartless, merciless, and dishonorable were not those things. The demon was....what Elaine considered, in a way, a blessing to the world.
She was honest, kind, friendly, sociable, and most importantly, she was gentle. During her battle with Bella and Billie, Elaine had expected Bella to kill her. To take away her means of living with just one snap of her fingers. That was what Bill would've done after all.
But then again, Bella wasn't Bill. She was her own true demon. And instead of deciding that Elaine's fate would be death, Bella spared her. No harm, no foul.
"Why did you...let me go that day?" Elaine remembered asking Bella when she had returned her gem sometime later.
"You may have kidnapped Aristotle, and tried to kill me, Billie, and Oscar, but if I did kill you, it wouldn't make me any better than you," Bella answered with a straight face.
"I don't understand this at all," Elaine pinched her eyebrows in irritation. "You're the daughter of the wrenched demon I came across years ago, yet you did things he would never do. When I kidnapped your friend, you chose to save him instead of leaving him for dead. You never abandoned that goat, even when your own life was on the line. When your friends learned the truth about you, you stuck by their side, instead of betraying them or just standing by and doing nothing. By this time, you have your powers back, and yet you still haven't stabbed that goat or axolotl in the back yet. Bill Cipher wouldn't do that, but why did you?"
"Because I'm not him," Bella sighed and looked at Elaine with a sympathetic look in her eye. "Look, I'm sorry for what my dad did to you. Not keeping his end of the deal, and causing you to almost lose half of your crew. But I had no part in it, and as much as I want to, I can't reverse what already happened, even if I tried. Everyone is their own person. It doesn't matter if you're related to an awful person or not. Sometimes, someone will want you to be something you're not. But this is life. Everyone has their own life. No one has control over what happens or what you should be. Only you have that power. If you don't wanna take over the world, use mortals as your playthings, or destroy whatever's left, then don't do it. If you wanna help and protect innocent people, meet new friends, and be the light they're looking for, then go ahead. Do what makes you happy."
Elaine remembered how stunned she was when heard those words come of Bella's mouth, or, since she really didn't have a mouth in her demon form, eye. She knew Bella wasn't Bill Cipher, but she still didn't expect those kind of words from his daughter.
However, Elaine had grown a sweet fondness for the demon, and, after not seeing her for a while due to her being too occupied with the Deciphers, Elaine decided to go ahead and ask her a request. She wanted her to stay at her ship for the night, usually for a fancy dinner date her crew was willing to help her with, and if Bella was up to it, they could even do something a little dirty later that night in the privacy of her room.
