It was a Saturday evening, and mom, Joe and I had just finished playing a game of monopoly. The outcome was positive for me, as I was the winner. Joe lost though, pretty badly.

We always play a board game on a Saturday evening. It became a tradition back in 2017 during my mom's year of 'rest and relaxation', as she now calls it. Mom wanted to play scrabble tonight, but we've learnt the hard way that we shouldn't play that with her. She always wins and takes it extremely seriously. But hey, at least I gained a tremendous vocabulary range from those games.

I had gotten up from the kitchen table where we had just played the game, to go to the bathroom. I might have had a few too many cans of pepsi.

I never usually used this particular bathroom, but because I was busting for the loo, I went straight to the closest one. This house had way too many toilets for a family of three.

As I was washing my hands, I noticed an empty box in the corner of the sink counter.

I picked it up and my eyes widened. It was a pregnancy test box! My jaw was practically on the floor. I looked in the box, since it was opened.

I then emptied the box on the counter and saw the actual test. It was positive.

"Holy shit." I said out loud. This had to be my mom's. She hasn't invited anyone around recently. And oh my god, I swear I heard her throw up this morning.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door.

"Y/n are you alright? You've been in there for a while." I heard my mom say on the other side of the door.

I opened the door and stared up at her.

"Mom?" I was still holding the pregnancy test box.

She looked confused, and a bit freaked out. But after she looked down at my hands, the realisation hit.

"Oh my god, I was not expecting you to find out like this..." She had a worried look on her face.

"You're pregnant?" I asked, just like, really checking.

Hey eyes were watering and she smiled. "Yes sweetie, you're going to be a big sister"

I was so happy, my eyes lit up with joy. I shrieked and gave my mom a big hug.

"Does Joe know? It is his right?"

"Girl of course it's his! And yes, I told Joe yesterday."

Joe then walked in.

"Hm? I heard my name" Joe said

"Don't worry babe, Y/n found the test."

His eyes widened even more than when I found out.

"Should I cancel the cookie order?" He whispered to mom.

"Hmm, Y/n, do you want a giant cookie?" She asked

"Yeah... I think?" I was very confused.

"Well then no," My mom said to Joe, then turned back to me. "We ordered you a giant chocolate chip cookie that says 'Best big sister' on it in icing. That's how I was going to tell you."

So, turns out, my mom was pregnant with twins! I know right, crazy!
