The TARDIS materialises. The Doctor steps out.
The Doctor: Becca Greenwood, I present to you 1 Hiroshima!
Becca follows him out.
Becca: The city that got nuked?
The Doctor: Oh! Typical human! Show them a city before you ruin it & the first you think about - destruction. Typical!
Becca: I'll take that as a yes then.
She laugh's nervously.
-It's stunning.
The Doctor: Right, let's say meet back here in an hour?
Becca: Sure thing.
They walk their separate ways, Becca walks onto a high street.
-Bakery. A proper authentic Japanese bakery.
She smiles.
-Think The Doctor gave me some currency.
She checks her pockets.
-Brilliant!
She enters the bakery.
In the bakery:
Sakura: Just a moment!
Becca: No worries!
Sakura: Your English?
Becca: Yeah, just having a small city break.
Sakura: I see, what can I get you.
Becca: Could I get a black sesame cookie & a matcha Swiss roll please?
Sakura: One black cookie & one matcha Swiss roll.
She grabs a pair of tongs.
-So what brings you to Hiroshima?
Becca: Was tired of London, I met a man & he showed me it all.
She laughs.
Sakura: Ah! A man, I knew a man once, left me with my daughter to go & fight in the war, I begged him not to, but he was a very stubborn man.
Becca: Have you heard from him?
Sakura: Unfortunately not. Many men go to war & don't return.
Becca: I'm sorry.
Sakura: That's the way of the war.
Becca: Sorry, war?
Sakura: The world is on the edge of war.
Becca: What are you talking about?
Sakura: The world war.
Becca: Hiroshima. Of course.

In the bakery:
Sakura: You sound surprised?
Becca: I've been travelling a lot recently, I must've avoided the conflict.
A young girl comes out of a room.
Akiko: Mummy!
Sakura: Hey, you!
Becca: Your daughter?
Sakura: Yeah.
Becca: What's her name?
Sakura: Akiko.
Becca: Sorry, I'm Becca by the way.
Sakura: Sakura.
Becca: Have you lived in Hiroshima for long?
Sakura: All my life. I'm Hiroshima born & raised.
Sakura gives Becca a paper bag.
-5¥ please.
Becca gives her a 5¥ note to Sakura.
Becca: I know I'm gonna sound mad but what's the date?
Sakura: Wow!
She laughs.
Becca: Time zones - they're a bitch.
They laugh.
Sakura: 5th August 1945.
Becca: 1945.
A white light flashes.
In the TARDIS:
The Doctor: 6th August 1945 - The day the US army detonated an atomic bomb above the city of Hiroshima.
Becca: Can we see it before it was destroyed?
The Doctor: I don't see why not.
He punches the coordinates into the TARDIS console.
Now:
In the bakery:
Becca: I'm sorry, I have to go.
Sakura: Oh, bye then!
Becca: See you.
Akiko: Bye!
Outside of the bakery:
Becca covers her mouth as a tear falls from her eye, she looks at her surroundings.
Becca: Oh god.
She runs.
Outside of the TARDIS:
Becca runs to the TARDIS, she tries to enter, however the doors locked.
-No! Oh god. I need to find him.
She looks at her surroundings.
-What way did he go?
She points her finger up.
-That way.
She runs.
In a bookshop:
The Doctor: Children's anthologies, geographical trivia, joke books, now I know a few jokes - the one about The Ice Warrior & The Judoon.
Aoi: Can I help you?
The Doctor: Just having a butcher's, my friend.
Aoi: A butcher's?
The Doctor: It's Cockney rhyming slang.
Aoi: I see, how long are you on holiday in Hiroshima?
The Doctor: I'm only staying for a few hours then I'm off.
Aoi: Are they're any books you're looking for specifically?
The Doctor: One about war.
Aoi: We are in war as of now. Living history.
The Doctor: What are you talking about?
Aoi: 'World War II' they're calling it.
The Doctor: World War II. What year is it?
Aoi: I understand that you're travelling but surely the time zones can't mess with you that much!
The Doctor: What's the date then?
Aoi: 5th August 1945.
The Doctor: Becca!
He runs out.
On the street:
The Doctor runs up to a woman.
The Doctor: Have you seen a girl with black hair, black eye makeup & a leather jacket?
Woman: No, sorry.
The Doctor sees Becca.
Becca: Doctor!
The Doctor: Becca!
A car horn beeps.
-Becca! Look out!
Becca screams as a car knocks her down, knocking her unconscious.
-Becca! Call an ambulance!
In the hospital:
Becca wakes up.
Becca: What happened?!
The Doctor: You were struck by a car.
Becca: That's a first.
She sits up.
-We're in Hiroshima - 5th August 1945, the day before-
The Doctor: Not anymore.
Becca: What?
Becca looks at the alarm clock, it reads 06:05AM.
The Doctor: This is the day the world changed forever.
Becca: We need to leave. It's not safe here! What time did the bomb get dropped?
The Doctor: It detonates at 08:15AM, we have an hour & 20 minutes roughly to get out.
In the sky:
A ship that reads: 'Enola Gay' flies through the sky.
Tibbets: Standing by for launch & detonation.
In Hiroshima:
In The Hospital:
The Doctor & Becca leave the ward.
Nurse: You can't leave.
Becca: I'm fine honestly, my arms encased in plaster, I'm not on crutches, I'll be ok.
Nurse: I shouldn't be letting you go.
Suddenly she sees Sakura & Akiko.
Sakura: Becca!
Becca: Sakura, hi. W-what are you doing here?
Sakura: The Shima Surgical Clinic is our nearest hospital, Akiko had a cough, just wanted to make sure she's ok.
Becca: You & Akiko should get out of the city for a few days.
Sakura: Why?
Becca: Just do something on a whim, I do it all the time.
The Doctor: Becca, come on.
Becca: Doctor...
The Doctor: Becca please.
In a military base:
The time reads 07:09AM.
Solider 1: What's that?
Solider 2: Incoming.
Soldier 1: Incoming of what?
Soldier 2: Never mind.
In the sky:
In Enola Gay:
Transmitter: Cloud cover less than 3/10th at all altitudes. Advice: bomb primary.
In the hospital:
Becca: We can't just leave them!
The Doctor: Becca, we have just over an hour. Come on!
The Doctor walks out.
In the town:
-Come on.
Becca: That is a mother & her daughter who has a whole life ahead of her! That is not fair! N-no th-that is cold! That is so cold!
The Doctor: It's life.
Becca takes her phone out.
Becca: The screen. It's all glitching. Somethings happening.
Suddenly a plane flies over them.
The Doctor: Oh no.
Becca: What?
The Doctor: It's begun.TO
