6.1 - The Whirlpool Turbine

In the TARDIS:
The Doctor: You ok?
Alex: Yeah.. why wouldn't I be?
The Doctor: What Missy tried to do.
Alex: I'm fine, honest.
The Doctor: You sure?
Alex: This is just standard with you.
Rick: You nearly did, we had to ask The Raxilians for help to revive you, Missy running the power of the vortex through your body, it's enough to near kill anyone.
The Doctor: Ooo look at you learning the lingo!
Rick: We've been in E-Space now for six months, I know it all now.
The Doctor: Makes things easier I suppose. But if we're all ok, I'll take us elsewhere?
Alex: Sure thing.
The Doctor pulls a lever.
The Doctor: I'm The Doctor, once upon a time, I ended a universal threat & saved the lives of billions, in the process I lost people, and also put people in further danger. Alex & Rick, they trusted me with their lives... and now, I betrayed their trust. Hopefully soon, someday I can escape E-Space... and all will be ok.

In the TARDIS:
Rick: Any sign of a CVE?
The Doctor: Unfortunately not.
Alex: We'll get out of here, someday. I know it.
The Doctor: I've gotten trapped in e-space twice before, I can work my way out again.
Alex: I believe you.
The Doctor: Just gonna run & fetch some water.
The Doctor leaves.
Rick: Nice to see you have more trust in The Doctor now.
Alex: Yeah, I guess. I just think after everything with The Cybermen, The Nun, Kora, The Valeyard, Tecteun, Missy - I think it's just revived my faith in her, she really can save me.
Rick: Hopefully she can save us from wherever or whatever e-space even is.
Alex: Yeah.
The Doctor runs back in.
The Doctor: Lovely water! From the TARDIS springs! Can't beat water! I love water! Water anyone?
Rick: Your giddy.
The Doctor: Had a few rhubarb & custard hard boils whilst I was getting some water.
Alex: Oh.
The Doctor: Yeah.
Alex: We close to landing?
The Doctor: Just about... now!
Alex: Great!
On a ship:
The TARDIS materialises.
In the TARDIS:
The Doctor: Seems to be a ship.
Alex: Space station or?
The Doctor: I think so.
Rick: Did you try the 'locate CVE' thing the Relux gave us?
The Doctor: Yep! And apparently this is the closest placement of a CVE nearest to us in e-space.
Rick: So maybe one will open up here?
The Doctor: Yes, one will open up here, but as of when-
She looks down.
-I don't exactly know.
Rick: We'd best make friends with the crew, so they'll let us stay here.
Alex: Or you could just park the TARDIS in space until it opens.
Rick: But then we'd be stuck in here for days, weeks, months or who knows.
Alex: I'm sure there's loads to do in the TARDIS, there's a zoo.
She looks at the door that leads to the corridor.
-Somewhere in here. Isn't there a beach simulation thing? Doctor? Doctor, isn't there a beach thing in the TARDIS?
The Doctor: Somewhere, yeah.
Rick: It's like Aladdin's Cave in 'ere.
The Doctor: Alex, can you go to the factory room please?
Alex: Why?
The Doctor: I need you to get the small little droid next to the jar of steel janus thorns & next to the Melkur stone, I can link it up to the TARDIS & fly it out into space & it'll alert us when the CVE is on the verge of splitting open.
Alex: On it!
She runs down the corridor.
Rick: Do you think we'll ever escape?
The Doctor: I hope we will someday.
Rick: But what if we never get out? What then?
The Doctor: CVEs open all the time! It's just a matter of knowing when exactly it'll open.
Rick: I hope it'll open soon, I miss being at home.
The Doctor: You won't be reported missing, I promise.
Rick: What?!
The Doctor: Time is relative in the TARDIS, I can bring us back to the point of when I jumped into my timestream & materialise the TARDIS on Earth just as we're hurtled towards the CVE & thrown into e-space.
Rick: Good, I hope it can stay that way.
The Doctor smiles.
The Doctor: So do I.
Alex runs in.
Alex: This it?
The Doctor: Yep!
Alex: When you said droid I was expecting something like C3P0 or Vision, not a demonic Yoda.
The Doctor: Leave Yabba alone!
Alex: Oh! Even rhymes with Jabba.
Rick laughs.
The Doctor: Off you go, little friend.
Alex: 'You must find master luke.'
The Doctor: Off she goes.
Yabba flies out into space.
-And now we wait.
Alex: Let's check out that space station.
Suddenly Alex begins to glow.
-Doctor! Doctor!
Alex disappears.
The Doctor: Oh no!
Rick: Where'd she go?!
The Doctor: I don't know!
Rick: Find her!
The Doctor: I'm trying!
Suddenly the TARDIS is taken control of.
-The TARDIS! Someone has control over her!
Rick: Who?!
The Doctor: I have a feeling.
On the space station:
War Master: Vortex alglingement arranged.
Alex wakes up, she is strapped into a chamber.
Alex: Where am I?!
War Master: Perfect.
Alex: Who are you?!
War Master: Like you don't know.
Alex looks into The War Master's eyes, she kicks him.
-I shall assume that that is for something I haven't done yet!
Alex: Go to hell! You lay a single finger on me, I swear to god!
War Master: Shh.
Alex: What do you want from me?
War Master: You are my ticket out of E-Space.
Alex: What?
War Master: You will be the organic life form that holds the power of the time vortex.
He smiles.
-Now sleep.
He clicks his fingers, Alex falls asleep.
Missy: Ooo! I'm seeing a lot in there alright! Daleks, Time-Tots, giant Great Danes! New Earth, Catkind, Oh lookey me! The Rani, complete bitch if you ask me, Cybermen! Woohoo! 'Delete Delete'! The Nun..
She laughs.
-Now she is a complete bitch! No a total bitch! Silurians, Ooh! You've even met the version of me who turned himself into a cat-
She laughs.
-Now I know what your thinking, why would I turn myself into a cat? And before you ask - no, it is not a fetish. Ooh! You've met Potato heads! And even Zygons! Good thing your boyfriend didn't kiss you when one of them disguised themselves as you! Might have gotten his face sucked off! Or good thing he didn't kiss 'you' in the dark, because he might've kissed an ugly! Woohoo!
Alex: Your mad!
Missy: Oh bless, I know.
Alex: What do you want with me?!
Missy: I'm bored.
Alex: Ok?
Missy: I want to travel to another universe.
Alex: You do realise that's literally impossible right?
Missy: Yes, unless I use a sentient being as a power core...
Alex: What? Hang on! You want to use me to get to another universe! All because your bored?!
Missy: Yep. Summed it up in one.
Alex: Listen, Mary Poppins-
Missy: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang-
Alex: Just shut up you nutcase!
Missy: Zip!
She mimes zipping her mouth.
Alex: Let me go!
The door opens.
The Doctor: Let her go, Missy!
Missy: Oh bol-
In the TARDIS:
Rick: Well?!
The Doctor: She's on the space station.
Rick: Materialise!
The Doctor: What about the CVE?!
Rick: Sod the CVE!
The Doctor materialises in the TARDIS.
On the space station:
The TARDIS materialises, The Doctor & Rick exit the TARDIS.
Rick: What happened here?
The Doctor: I'd rather not know.
Rick: There's dried blood everywhere & skeletons. Who did this?
The Doctor: I don't know.
Rick: Alex is on this ship, Doctor.
The Doctor: I know.
Rick: That thing could still be on board.
The Doctor: I know!
Rick: We need to find her before she dies.
They open a door, it leads to a corridor.
The Doctor: Oh my god.
Rick: What?
The Doctor: Rick.
She swallows.
-That's a battle TARDIS.
They see a chrome cylinder object stood in an alcove.
Rick: What's a battle TARDIS?
The Doctor: A variant of TARDIS used in the time war.
Rick: But what's it doing here?
The Doctor: There's a Timelord here, they must've fallen through the CVE too.
Rick: Do you think they did all of this & kidnapped Alex?
The Doctor: Possibly.
They hear a scream.
Rick: Alex!
In a room:
Alex: Stop it please! Please stop!
The War Master: I am going to escape this region of space & I will be free! You! Are! My! Escape! My CVE power core!
Alex: No! No!
She screams.
-No!
The War Master: Activating... now.
He flicks a switch, Alex eyes glow blue.
Alex: No!
In space:
A blue laser fires from a satellite dish & into space, a crack appears.
On the ship:
The Doctor & Alex stop as the ship rumbles.
Rick: What was that?! Something to do with Mavity?
The Doctor: Nope. Not Mavity. A sort of space-quake, back to the TARDIS! Now!
Rick: What about Alex?!
The Doctor: This is important!
They run.
In the TARDIS:
The Doctor & Rick run in, The Doctor looks at the screen.
Rick: Well?!
The Doctor: Oh no.
Rick: What is it?!
The Doctor: Someone's tried to force open
The CVE we detected.
Rick: Is that bad?!
The Doctor: Yes. Not only could it rip a permanent hole in time & space but to do it you'd need a whirlpool turbine.
Rick: What's that?
The Doctor: Dirty technology. A Whirlpool Turbine mimics the energy required for a CVE to open, in a sense it generates bootleg Otex radiation to open the CVE meaning it's incredibly unstable & it normally-
The Doctor looks down.
Rick: Doctor?
The Doctor: A live power source which would normally come from the Otex radiation but the mimicked Otex radiation can't replicate that meaning-
Rick: Doctor! Spit it out!
The Doctor: Meaning it'd need a live power source.
Rick: Ok?
The Doctor looks on the TARDIS screen.
The Doctor: There's only 4 sentient beings on this ship, meaning-
Rick: Someone's gonna use Alex as a power source!
The Doctor: & if we don't find her quick enough she'll die!
They run out of the TARDIS.
In the room:
Alex: Let me out please! Please! She screams.
The War Master: Shh my child, it'll all be over soon.
Alex: No! No! I-I can feel-
Outside of the room:
They hear screams.
Rick: Alex!
The Doctor: Alex! Alex!
Alex: (voice) Help me! Please! I'm gonna die!
The Doctor sonics the door, it slides open.
In the room:
The War Master: Ah!
The Doctor & Rick run in.
The Doctor: You!
The War Master: Hello Doctor!
Rick: Alex!
Alex: Rick! Don't come near! I'm burning!
The Doctor: Let her go!
The War Master: I can't do that I'm afraid.
He grabs a lever.
-& now. I can escape E-Space for once & for all!
The War Master approaches his TARDIS.
The War Master: It was nice to see you again, Doctor. And whoever these two are.
Rick: What have you done to her?!
The War Master: The Doctor's a Timelord, ask her!
The Doctor: You stay where you are & you get her out of this thing at once!
The War Master: Hmm. No. Bye bye!
The War Master enters his TARDIS & closes the door.
In The War Master's TARDIS:
The War Master flicks a switch.
-N-space here I come!
In space:
The CVE rips open.
In the room:
Alex screams in agony.
Alex: I'm gonna die!
The Doctor: No! No your not!
Rick: Doctor! Get her out of there!
The Doctor: I don't know how to!
Rick: You're a Timelord! You show know!
The Doctor: It's not Timelord technology! It's cheap black market technology! Cheap & dirty!
Rick: Get her out!
Alex: I-I think it's happening! I-I think it's time! This is it! Oh god. This it it! Rick, I-I love you-
Rick: Doctor! It's gonna rip her apart!
The Doctor: I-I-
In space:
The War Master's TARDIS spins out of the CVE, the CVE remains open.
In the ship:
Rick: It's killing her!
The Doctor: Wait here!
Rick: Doctor!
The Doctor runs.
-Doctor!
In the TARDIS:
The Doctor pulls a lever, the TARDIS begins to dematerialise.
In the room:
Alex: S-she's leaving u-us.
Rick: No! Don't say that! She's not! She's gotta have some kind of plan! She can't leave us here! She can't leave you here! Not like this! I won't let you die!
Alex: It's ok, just let me go.
Rick tears up.
Rick: N-no.
Alex cries.
Alex: I love you-
In space:
The TARDIS materialises by the CVE, The Doctor holds her sonic screwdriver up.
The Doctor: One day I will escape.
She presses down on her sonic, it begins to close the CVE.
-Come on! Come on! That's it!
The CVE snaps shut.
-Alex!
In the room:
The Whirlpool Turbine stops, Alex's eyes return to normal, she gasps, the blue light fade however her eyes are now just red.
Rick: Alex?! Alex?!
Alex: I'm ok. I'm ok. Did the lights go out or something?
Rick: No, why?
The Doctor runs in.
The Doctor: Hey! You're ok!
The Doctor laughs.
-Ha Ha! Your ok!
Alex: I'm not, I'm not. Somethings wrong.
The Doctor: W-what?
Rick: She can't see.
In the TARDIS:
The Doctor: The Radiation levels were so high & the lightning from it was so bright that it's caused you to lose your sight.
Alex: What?!
Rick: It'll return won't it?
The Doctor sighs.
The Doctor: I'm sorry.
Alex: No.
She cries.
Rick: Come here.
Rick hugs her.
The Doctor sits down, she wipes her eyes.
The Doctor: I am so sorry, Alex.
Alex: Don't you dare apologise!
The Doctor: Alex?
Alex: I could've died today, but I suppose I 'got lucky', didn't I? Didn't die but I still lost my sight! I don't think I can do this anymore.
The Doctor: Alex?
Alex: This. How many more times, Doctor? How many more times do I have to nearly get killed - Dr Khan, The Kandyman, The Cybermen, The Valeyard, The Zygons, Sil, Missy. What if next time I lose more than just my vision? All those times I got lucky, Today I got lucky, what if next time my luck runs out? I can't risk that, I'm sorry.
The Doctor: You want to leave?
Alex cries.
Alex: Yes.
The Doctor: Please-
Alex: No, Doctor. It's now or never.
The Doctor: Alex! Please!
Rick: You heard her.
The Doctor: I can't bring you back home!
Alex: Oh I don't care! Drop us off at the nearest planet!
On Apollyon:
The TARDIS materialises, The Doctor steps out.
The Doctor: This is Apollyon, it should be safe for you here, ask for Matitia, she'll be able to help you start a new life here.
The Doctor enters the TARDIS.
Rick: Are you sure that this is what you want?
Alex: Yes.
They join hands & walk off into the forest, the TARDIS dematerialises, Alex turns & pauses for a second, she shakes her head & continues to walk.

NEXT TIME:
Mab: A TARDIS?!
Eve: Isn't that an ancient Timelord legend?
Mab: Yes, my child.
Eve runs. The Doors open, The Doctor comes out.
Mab: Timelord!
Mab: They saw the devil in them.
The Doctor: Satan?
Mab: No, The evil god of Chaos - Damnation, we keep their book, The Book Of The Damned on Chaos-Minor.
Eve: Father!
Serena: No!
Serena: You killed my father! Now feel my wrath!
Eve: You! Timelord! Get down!
The Doctor: What?
Eve pulls The Doctor down.
-What's gonna happen? I-I'm confused.
Eve: The rage of the Raven witch.
Serena: I am The Raven Witch!
Eve: In other words, Damnation.
