4.5 - Sweetheart

In the TARDIS:
The Doctor places Alex on a bed.
Alex: D-D-Doctor? W-W-What's happened?
Quira: Alex, you've been shot.
The Doctor stands around the console.
Alex: Doctor.
The Doctor: I am not going to let you die.
She pulls down on the lever, the TARDIS dematerialises.
Alex: Doctor. I feel-I feel.
The Doctor: Alex hold on!
Alex closes her eyes.
-(faded) Hold on!
In a hospital:
The TARDIS materialises, The Doctor bursts out holding Alex in her arms.
The Doctor: Somebody help us!
Quira emerges from behind her.
Rhubarb: Custard! You're needed!
Custard: What's the issue?
The Doctor: She's been shot.
Rhubarb takes her from The Doctor.
Custard: Take her for Emergancy operating.
The Doctor & Alex follow Rhubarb & Custard as they walk.
Rhubarb: You can't go any further I'm afraid.
The Doctor: Why not?
Rhubarb: Because Doctor K says so.
The Doctor: Doctor K?
Quira: Who?
Rhubarb walks away as The Doctor tries to speak to her.
In a room:
Doctor K: She is here! The Doctor is here! I shall have my revenge!
Doctor K laughs.

In a room:
Alex is sat on a bed next to a man who is working on a robot.
Mint: Spanner.
Alex: Spanner.
Alex passes Mint a spanner.
Mint: It's been two years since your procedure! How do you feel?
Alex: Doctor K's methods are absolutely brilliant! I wouldn't even know I've been shot!
In the hospital:
The Doctor & Quira are sat down, Custard comes out.
Custard: I have good news & bad news.
Quira: Oh no.
The Doctor: Good news first please.
Custard: Good news, The procedure was successful, bad news is that you won't be able to see Alex again.
The Doctor: What? Why?!
Custard: Due to Doctor K's procedures & methods being private & anyone who finds out could be able to accomplish who knows what!
The Doctor: Ok, then let me see her, we'll stay here.
Custard: You can't do that I'm afraid.
The Doctor: Then what can we do?! Because I'm not leaving until I see Alex.
Custard: Goodbye Doctor & Quira.
Custard walks away.
Quira: What do we do?
The Doctor looks at a door.
The Doctor: You know when you see a sign that says: 'keep out'?
Quira: Yeah?
The Doctor: It's like an invitation to open the door!
The Doctor walks over, Quira follows her, she sonics the door.
Quira: A staircase!
The Doctor: A long windy one.
Quira: Of we go then!
The Doctor & Quira go down the stairs.
-So what are you hoping to find then?
The Doctor: Last time I ended up in a situation like this, a friend of mine had been converted into a Cyberman.
Quira: Cybermen?
The Doctor: Long story.
Quira: So where are we?
The Doctor: Rykerzon.
Quira: Have you been here before?
The Doctor: Many incarnations ago.
The Doctor gasps.
Quira: What?
The Doctor: I have a very bad idea of what could have happened to Alex.
Quira: & what would that be?
The Doctor: When I last came here a being known as The Kandyman had kept a friend of mind hostage, however The Kandyman soon died when another friend pushed him into a bowl of additives & fats.
Quira: Pleasant way of dying!
The Doctor: Tell me about it.
In a room:
Mint: What's Maple-Berry crying about?
Alex: I don't know, I'll go & speak to her.
Mint: Alright.
Alex goes to the corridor & sits down next to Maple-Berry.
Alex: What's up with you?
Maple-Berry: Doctor K said I had a sweet heart, but mummy said I had a rotten heart.
Sweet-Tooth: Well you'd better come with me.
Maple-Berry: What for?
Sweet-Tooth: The Kandyman will solve your problems.
Alex: What Will this Kandyman do for her?
Sweet-Tooth: He'll fix her.
Alex: Fix what?
Sweet-Tooth: Her rotten heart.
Sweet-Tooth grabs Maple-Berry's arm & drags her, she screams.
Alex: Maple-Berry!
On the stairs:
The Doctor & Quira open a door to find a corridor, they see Alex going into a room.
Quira: Alex!
The Doctor: Alex!
They run over to the room & open the door.
Alex: Doctor-
Quira: Alex! It's so good to see you!
The Doctor hugs Alex.
The Doctor: I am so sorry.
Alex: Quira, what are you doing here?
The Doctor: She helped you into the TARDIS.
Alex: So is she travelling with us? Or-
The Doctor: Yeah, if that's what you want.
Quira: I don't mind.
Mint: Alright, enough of the chitchat.
The Doctor: Is this your friend?
Mint: Not exactly.
Alex: Eh?
Mint pulls his face off, revealing him to be The Master.
The Master: Now you know!
Rhubarb appears.
Rhubarb: Everything ok, Master?
The Master: Why yes my dear Rani.
The Doctor turns around.
The Doctor: What?!
Rhubarb pulls her face off, revealing her to be The Rani.
The Rani: Why yes Doctor.
They both laugh.
Alex: Doctor? Context please?
The Doctor: Alex, Quira, meet The Master & The Rani, The renegade Timelords.
Alex: Like Kora?
The Doctor: Yes, like Kora.
The Master: Now, you three will come with us.
The Master & The Rani escort them down a corridor.
The Doctor: Why are you doing this? Last time we met, we parted on good terms!
The Master: Well, it's hard not to cause trouble when you are being payed such a good price.
The Doctor: What?
The Master: When it comes to decent payment, The Kandyman can.
The Doctor: The Kandyman?
Quira: Doctor you said-
The Rani: What? That the Kandyman was killed after being pushed into a pool of additives & fats by that Liv Chenka?
The Master: Whilst his body died, his mind still survived as an interface.
They enter a room.
The Kandyman: Hello Doctor.
The Doctor: We shouldn't need to be scared of you.
The Kandyman: & why is that?
The Doctor: Because your an interface, nothing amazing, your just a computer, a piece of cheap & nasty technology.
The Kandyman: Or so you think.
Two guns come out of the wall.
Quira: What's that smell?
Alex: It's like sweet.
The Doctor: Gas. It's gas! Cover your mouths!
They cover their mouths.
Alex (muffled): Stop this at once!
The Doctor sonics the gas, it stops, they uncover their mouths.
Quira: What now?
The Doctor: When I say run, we run.
The Rani: I wouldn't think about it Doctor.
The Master: Shall I?
The Rani: Yes.
The Master: Activate!
Multiple blocks of toffee get up & walk towards The Doctor, Alex & Quira.
The Doctor: Run!
As they run Alex grabs a box full of miniature bottles.
On the stairs:
They stop running.
Quira: What did you grab?
Alex: This box, it's got all bottles in it with chemicals in them.
Quira: What chemicals are there?
Alex rummages around the box.
Alex: Nitroglycerin, Universal indicator, Acid, White vinegar, Goose fat, Vegetable oil, mixed saturated fats.
Quira: That's a lot of fats.
The Doctor: What are these pipes for?
The Doctor sonics them.
-They supply sugars into The Kandyman's interface.
Quira: We could put fats into the pipes, destroying the Kandyman.
Alex: We need to find the supply port & give him what? A heart attack?
Quira: It's an interface, so he wouldn't have a heart but it could completely destroy his mind.
The Doctor, Quira & Alex follow the pipes, they find a chemical port.
Quira: I think you remove those parts.
She takes out the pumps.
-It's still full.
Alex pours the chemicals in.
-What are you doing?
Alex: Giving him a full fat meal.
The Doctor: Do it.
Alex grabs the pumps.
Quira: Hang on, if we destroy The Kandyman, won't this whole hospital collapse?
The Doctor: Yeah. Yeah i-it will.
Quira: There are innocent people here.
Alex: They're not real people.
The Doctor: Alex?
Alex: He's called The Kandyman for a reason.
Quira: I don't understand.
Alex: He operates on people & replaces their damaged parts with candy versions, my left lung was damaged when I was shot, he replaced it with a gelatinous lung.
Quira gasps.
The Doctor: Alex, I-
Alex: Also meaning-
The Master appears.
The Master: If she leaves the hospital she'll die.
The Rani appears.
The Rani: Also if you destroy this hospital, she'll die with it & so will everyone else up there.
Alex: Then so be it.
The Doctor: Alex no.
Alex: Get back to the TARDIS Doctor, Quira take her back.
Quira: Doctor come on.
The Doctor: No.
The Doctor holds up her TARDIS key, The TARDIS materialises behind them.
-Quira take Alex into the TARDIS, there's some wires under the console, attach them to Alex's shoulders.
Alex & Quira enter the TARDIS, The Doctor pushes down on the ports, pumping the fats into the pipes.
In the room:
The Kandyman laughs.
The Kandyman: This is so good!
He begins to scream in pain.
In the basement:
The roof begins to fall, The Rani & The Master fall after a rock falls on them.
The Rani: Help us.
The Doctor looks at them.
The Master: Have mercy on us.
The Doctor: No.
The Doctor gets into the TARDIS.
In the TARDIS:
-Alex. This may hurt.
Alex: It's ok.
The Doctor pulls down on the lever, the TARDIS materialises, Alex screams.
Quira: Your killing her!
The Doctor: Stay with us Alex! Please!
On Earth:
The TARDIS materialises.
The Doctor, Quira & Alex step out.
Quira: What's that?
The Doctor: UNIT, they'll help her.
A solider runs out, The TARDIS chimes.
-That's the incursion chime, Quira I'll need you to stay here.
Quira: What for?
The Doctor: There's an alien in Trafalgar Square.
The Doctor enters the TARDIS, it materialises, Ortiz appears.
Ortiz: Sir, it would seem she's obtained another TARDIS.
Slight pause.
-I'm sorry sir, I will try harder.

Next Time:
An explosion goes of, The Doctor appears, there is nothing but darkness around her.
The Doctor: The Time War. One of the worst space wars in history. Planets died. People died. Millions of races were wiped out. I was at the middle, I saw it all. Death. War & Destruction. I was a coward, I never tried to help & I still feel guilty about those who lost their lives in the war. I am The Doctor & I will never forget the time war.
