5.3 - Through Her Eyes

In the TARDIS:
Alex is laying in bed, she sighs, a white light flashes.
Soldiers run up & down a street.
A ship crashes into Big Ben.
A man walks around with his head in his hands.
Pepper pot like robots fly through the sky.
Gas pours out of a car.
Radio: The residence will be incinerated.
A white light flashes.
Alex: What a wonderful world.

2001:
A woman is laying in a hospital bed.
Gerry: Aw she's lovely isn't she?
Leah: Yeah.
Gerry: What do we call her?
Leah: Alexandra Emma Holt.
Gerry: Hello Alexandra.
2005:
Leah, Gerry & Alex are walking through a mall.
Leah: Them dummy things frighten the life out of me.
Gerry laughs, the window dummies begin to move.
-Oh great!
They break the windows & begin to fire lasers.
Gerry: Come on! Let's get out of here!
2006:
A woman & a young child are walking across a bridge in London.
Leah: Look at the boat darling!
Alex: Wow! Can we go on mummy? Can we? Can we? Please! Please! Please!
Leah: Let's go for an ice cream first.
Alex: Ice cream! I want vanilla, chocolate, strawberry & mint all in one cone with a flake & all of that colourful water stuff!
Leah laughs.
Leah: Well, we'll see, remember we're meeting daddy for pizza later.
Alex: Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
Suddenly a horn blares.
-Wowie!
Leah: What the hell?
Man: Is that a promotion for a new Star Wars film or something?
The ship crashes into BigBen.
Leah: Oh my god!
She grabs Alex & runs as multiple army tanks pull up, a man in a black leather jacket with black shaved hair & a woman with blonde hair, a pink shirt with a white jacket in one hand & blue jeans runs past them.
In a flat:
Alex is sat on a sofa.
Leah: I tell you, it was like something out of one of them Star Wars films.
Gerry: It can't be!
They look at the TV.
-Aliens don't exist!
Leah: Who knows! It could be a publicity stunt.
The door rings.
Cath: Have you seen the telly? Aliens! As if!
Gerry: That's what they're saying on BBC news.
Cath: Well if they are aliens, E.T can bloody phone home can't he.
Alex giggles.
-Oh hello darling! Look at me going on about Zogs & whatnot. How's my favourite niece?
Alex giggles.
2009:
Gerry: Everything alright Mrs Fisher?
Mrs Fisher: No, no everything's not alright, the car won't stop pouring out gas so it won't!
Gerry: What?
Cath: Gerry! Get inside! It's happening everywhere!
Leah: Gerry! Come on!
Alex: What's going on?
Leah: The cars are being silly.
Alex giggles.
Alex: What's the stuff coming out of it?
Cath: It's that Atmos stuff I'll tell you!
Leah: What?
Cath: The cars they're all fitted with Atmos. Mine isn't that's why mine ain't smoking.
Gerry: Mrs Fisher! Get inside!
Cath: It's them zogs again I'll tell you! You ain't having Grafton road! You hear me?
Leah: Come on, let's try & seal up the doors.
2009:
Robot: (Offscreen) You will obey us or you will be exterminated! We are the supreme beings!
Cath: We ain't going anywhere with them.
Gerry: Then let's keep quiet.
Leah: A bit impossible with her mouth.
Cath: Oh I'm sorry!
Leah: You will be.
Gerry: Leah! Shush!
Leah: I know.
Gerry: What?
Cath: Know what?
Leah: That you've been having it off with my sister.
Cath: What? Don't talk rubbish!
Leah: Go on, go out to them things in the skies, I don't care. Your scum the pair of you.
Alex comes down.
Alex: Mummy? Why are you shouting? Are you shouting at the robots?
Leah: No darling, your daddy has been an idiot. Again.
Leah hugs Alex.
-Come & sit here on Mummy's lap & behave.
Robot: (offscreen) Commencing transportation! Activate tractor beam!
A green light flashes, Cath looks through the curtains discreetly.
Cath: They're gone.
Leah: Good. Now get out! Both of you!
2010:
Cath is on the phone.
Cath: No. I told you, I'm not letting her go to school Gerry! Not with the government giving them an injection to stop the kids from being possessed.
Slight pause.
-No! It's lies! It's all lies! I know it is!
Lee: Give it here.
Cath gives him the phone.
-Not now Gerry.
Slight pause.
-You lost the right to call my sister your wife after you cheated on her. With her sister! Now goodbye.
He puts the phone down, the door knocks, Lee looks out the window.
Leah: Is it them?
Lee: Yeah. A load of big army blokes are outside with guns.
Leah: They're here for Alex.
Lee: Get her out of here. Now!
Leah: What about you?
Lee: I've got this.
He shows her a gun.
-Now go Sis. I love you.
The scene cuts to a car, Leah & Alex get in the car, Leah shuts all the windows.
Leah: Keep your head down sweetheart.
Alex: Ok Mummy.
Alex puts her head down, Leah covers her with a blanket.
Leah: Now, we are going for a little drive ok?
Alex: (muffled) Ok mummy.
Leah starts up the car, she drives, she looks out of the window, she sees children being dragged away from their parents.
2010:
Leah turns the radio one.
Radio: Prisoner Zero will vacate the human residence.
Leah: Hang about, have I turned on the BBC radio drama channel or something?
Alex: Mummy, what's that?
Leah: I don't know babe. I don't know.
2011:
Leah: So today sweetheart, we're gonna bake cupcakes instead of sending you into the school, go wash your hands quickly!
Alex runs out of the room.
-It's either this or you coming home with your hand in hand. Literally.
There's sudden screaming, Alex comes out of the room.
Alex: What's happening?
Leah looks out of the window, Alex jumps on a stool & looks out the window, they see a man walking around with his head in his arms.
Old woman: It's the miracle! The bleedin' miracle! The miracle's gotten him!
Alex: Miracle?
Later on:
Leah: This god forsaken miracle. It's changed us all.
Cath: Why's it happened, that's what we're all thinking ain't we?
Leah: Something about Mother Nature.
Cath: Well, no offence to Mother Nature but she's a bitch.
Leah scoffs.
Leah: How's dad?
Cath: Getting worse. I mean how worse can he get? He's had a heart attack, he can't die, so who knows?
Leah: I've got a mate from Cardiff, she's in America now trying to find out something.
Cath: How is she able to do something about it?
Leah: Special ops or something, I don't know, that's Gwen Cooper for you, strong as an ox.
Cath: We have to be in these situations, ever since that thing in London back in '06, them aliens 'av never left us alone.
Leah scoffs.
Leah: Aliens.
2015:
Alex exits her collage, she bumps into a man.
Alex: I am so sorry!
Rick: Don't worry about it honestly.
Alex: Are you sure?
Rick: Yeah.
Alex: Your Rick Holdaway right?
Rick: Yeah & your Alex Holt, the childcare girl.
Alex: Childcare girl?
Rick: Yeah, since you get all the top grades in childcare.
Alex: Oh I didn't know that people call me that.
Rick: Yeah, apparently you handled that Android baby thing really well, I mean look at Chanel, she's still trying to figure it out.
They look at a girl smoking a cigarette, she burns it on an Android baby, they laugh.
Alex: Not everyone's cut out for motherhood.
Rick: Yeah, I shouldn't be too harsh. She's young.
Alex: Yeah, she'll get it eventually, she's smart, really, she just doesn't know it yet.
Rick: Yeah.
Alex: Do you wanna go for a coffee?
Rick: Sure, I'd love one.
They walk off.
New Year's Eve 2021:
Alex & Rick are in a restaurant.
Rick: Look, I know these last two years have been awful-
Alex: Your not wrong.
Rick: & I honestly don't know how I managed to get through them without you.
Alex smiles.
-Which is why I wanted to ask if you Alex Holt, would become Mrs Rick Holdaway?
He presents a ring to her.
Alex: Yes! Yes! I do!
They kiss, people around them cheer.
2022:
Rick: You of to the job?
Alex: Yeah.
Rick: Good luck!
Alex: Thanks.
On a road:
Alex walks down a road.
Alex: 26 Somerset Road, ah! Here we are!
A man opens a door.
Kane: Alex, Hi.
Alex: Hiya!
Bell: (offscreen) Is the babysitter here?
Kane: Yeah, Come in.
NOW:
Alex is sat up in bed.
Alex: All my life The Doctor has been there.
She smiles.
-My guardian angel? Or my Cursed Devil?

NEXT TIME:
Alex: Where are we anyway?
The Doctor: The British museum.
Alex: Interesting.
The Doctor: Very.
Tozi: We'll Xōchipilli? What do you think of the black haired one?
Xōchipilli: She is very pretty.
He rubs his hand down his face.
-Very. Very pretty.
Tozi: She shall be your new wife Xōchipilli?
Xōchipilli: Yes Tozi, Nina shall be new wife.
The Doctor: River!
They hug.
Henry VIII: You shall both be executed!
River: What? For what?
Henry VIII: For unfaithfulness!
Xōchipilli: You dare place a hand on me?
Nina: & I'd do it again!
Xōchipilli: Tozi?
Tozi: Yes lord Xōchipilli?
Xōchipilli: Kill them.
Tozi blows on the whistle, Alex & Nina scream.
