Kiara had thought that she would feel better the next day,but she still couldn't help but feel confused. And being confused just made her feel frustrated.
She clenched her jaw and sorted through her clothes, deciding what to wear. She was even starting to reconsider the offer to play golf today.A part of her told her that the previous night was wrong. But the other part of her said that it was perfect.
She didn't know what to believe.
Kiara made up her mind and pulled out a black pair of leggings to go with the white golf shirt she had packed. She pulled on her pair of trainers, then tied her hair up into a pony-tail,grabbing a plain black cap to go with it.
Moments later she was making her way down to the lobby.Even in the elevator she had started to reconsider going to the course.Almost a whole day with the man she had run away from during the previous night...She had ignored any calls from Carlos. And when she had checked his messages in the morning, she had left his apologies on read.Of course,he had nothing to be sorry for.Yet,he was the one currently asking for forgiveness.
Kiara knew that she wouldn't run into Carlos in the lobby. He and Lando had already left much earlier on.And Kiara had neglected the offer to go with them one time. Her excuse was,of course, that it was too early and she wanted more rest. Her driver could take her later on.
She walked through the lobby and made her way out of the building, making her way to the car as the driver,Jay,waited for her.
Jay opened the car door for her and she climbed in while greeting him.Once he started to drive off,she sat back with a sigh and toyed with her fingers. To distract herself, she started a conversation with Jay,which most wouldn't usually do with their drivers. But she did.She never saw what was wrong.
"And tomorrow,I'm meeting up with my new trainer."She told him.He clearly wasn't very interested. But he smiled on and gave nods of acknowledgment while giving his opinions.
Kiara usually did that when she needed to distract herself when stressed out.It worked, most of the time.Even during a race. But that rarely occurred, since she had to keep all focus on it.Though,if she did need to calm herself, she would ask Santiago questions on the radio and make it sound as if what she was doing was easy.
Finally arriving at the golf course,Kiara greeted Jay and informed him about when he needed to fetch her.She soon started to make her way into the main building to look for Ivy,hoping that Carlos wasn't the first person she ran into.
She saw Ivy standing nearby with Lando, both looking out a large window that overlooked the enormous golf course.Kiara approached them,half-wondering where was Carlos.
"I am not late, for your information."Kiara pointed at Ivy,who seemed as though she would make such a comment.
"Wasn't going to say anything."Ivy grinned, raising her hands.
"Carlos went to the bathroom."Lando said,as if reading Kiara's thoughts."He'll be back in a moment. Then,we can get started."
Kiara nodded, looking at Ivy while saying."Don't you dare say what I think you're going to say."
Ivy shook her head, her grin still on display."I can't help it."
"What?"Lando lifted his brows.
"Kiara is going to lose so bad that she'll wish that she never came along."Ivy laughed.
"Haha, very funny."Kiara rolled her eyes. And little did Ivy and Lando know, she wished that she hadn't come along as Carlos approached her from behind and said to no one in particular."Come on,let's get going."
She didn't turn around to look at him, rather starting to walk through the next door with Ivy while Lando said."About time."
While walking beside Ivy,Kiara looked around as they walked out of the building and onto a broad walkway that led to the golf carts. The course was huge and stretched as far as Kiara could look ahead, the green field seeming warm against the bright and hot sun.
Lando and Carlos followed behind with all the equipment as Ivy and Kiara approached the first cart, which had two rows of two seats.Just for four individuals.
As Lando loaded the equipment onto the small vehicle,Ivy asked."Which one of us is driving?"
Kiara smiled."Can I?"
"As long as you don't drive us into a ditch, sure."Lando said, climbing into the back seat while offering Ivy a hand as she joined him.
"Really?"Kiara gave him a flat look,as if they all weren't drivers in one of the biggest sports.
Kiara got into the front and started the cart as the keys were handed to her.Since the only other seat available was next to her,Carlos sat down beside her.
She didn't look at him,nor did he speak to her as she began to drive over to the first part of the course. In her mind, all she could think about was how they went from always needlessly arguing when they saw each other...to whatever this was.
Lando started to give Ivy pointers on swinging a golf club. And Ivy just told him."Shut up.I have been playing this sport since I was little."
"Really?"Lando said."Not sounding convinced.
"Yes."She said.
"Okay, then."Lando snickered."Let's see how you play."
At this point, both of the Mclaren drivers were the only ones doing the talking.
Kiara stopped the golf cart at the first point and exchanged a look with Carlos, asking in her gaze whether she had stopped at the right spot.To be honest, she had just taken a guess as to where they were going to start.
Carlos nodded in confirmation. And she hoped that it would be the only form of communication for the rest of the day.
Carlos and Lando unloaded the equipment a few moments later.
Then,Ivy went first, hitting the golf ball with quite a swing. She stood for a moment, watched the ball fly through the air and then turned to give Lando an 'I told you so' look.
Lando shrugged."That was just your first try.Let's see the rest."
She rolled her eyes and lifted her golf club, pointing the end of it at Lando's chest while she stepped aside for whoever was next.
Kiara waited for Lando or Carlos to go ahead. Then,Lando said to her."Ladies first."
She hesitated at first, then moved to put the golf ball down on the tee. From her stance, she herself could tell that she was already going downhill. As always, this sport confused her.
She was about to swing, but soon felt someone come up behind her while saying."Hold on a second."
Carlos put his hands on her waist from where he stood behind her and helped her position herself. She tried not to look at him to hide the red blush that had come up to her face while she repositioned her feet and body. And for once she was successful in carefully avoiding his gaze.
"Okay,"Lando said from nearby."Go ahead."
Kiara slightly lifted the club. Then,as she started to swing with full force, she felt the damn stick whack something from behind, hearing the quick cuss word in Spanish. No,not something.Someone.
Carlos grunted and faltered a step, clutching his chest from where she had struck it.
"Oh,shit."Lando pressed a hand to his mouth. But anyone could see that he and Ivy were trying so hard not to laugh.
Kiara immediately dropped the stick and rushed over to him, saying."Carlos,I am so sorry."
He didn't reply and she smoothed a hand over his chest while apologising once again. That one must have seriously hurt, since the stupid club was literally like a knob a metal.
"I'm sorry."She shook her head."I thought that you already moved away..."
Carlos exhaled and for a moment she thought that he was really mad about it.But he blinked a few times and met her gaze, looking down at her, then the hand she had on his chest.
"Next time, hit him in the face."Ivy said sarcastically.
"Shut up."Kiara snapped at her, quickly dropping her hand after letting it linger for a moment. She moved to pick up her golf club from where it was discarded on the ground.
"I don't know whether I should help or not this time."Carlos said. She could just sense the smile that joined his tone. And maybe she should have considered what Ivy said and whacked him in the face.
