Chapter 57

"Kiara?"Carlos said,trying to get her to wake up.
"Hmm."She sighed,turning away from him as he tried to shake her shoulder.
Her eyes were still closed.And she was tired.She had no intention of getting up any time soon.
"Kiara,it's past noon."He chuckled,yanking the pillow from under her head.
She snapped at that,snatching the pillow back and trying to go back to sleep."So?"
"So,do you not have any plans or something?"He asked,shifting closer to her again and stopping her as she tried to pull the blanket over her head.
"My schedule isn't as busy as yours."She muttered.
Though her eyes were closed,she knew that he was smiling as he said."Well...I have a team lunch today."
"That's you,"She mumbled."Not me."
"Okay,then."He said,seeming to shrug."I guess I should get going,then."
"Whatever."She sighed,trying to go back to sleep.She yawned,pulling the blanket over her head.
A second later,she felt his side of the bed go empty.
And that's when her eyes opened a little.She blinked a few times,a frown on her face. Was he being serious?
She quickly turned around,shifting to see if he was gone.
She saw the empty spot,and she sighed.
He couldn't have left already,so she rubbed at her tired eyes with a yawn,calling."Carlos,wait."
When there was no response,she stopped rubbing at her eyes and dropped her hands,quickly sitting up.
"Relax,cariño."He laughed."I'm here."
She looked over to the bedroom door,seeing him leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed.
"You really think I would have just left like that?"He chuckled,shaking his head.
She shrugged."I don't know."
"Well,now I found some way to wake you up."He winked.
"Well,now I know not to fall for it."She playfully rolled her eyes.
He smiled and walked back to the bed.
When he stopped and stood next to the side of the bed where she sat,he said."I think you'd still fall for it."
She frowned,grabbing a pillow and chucking it in his direction.
He chuckled and caught it with one hand,tossing it aside."What?I'm right,no?"
"No!I'm not that stupid."She snapped,grabbing another pillow and throwing it at his face.He batted it aside,then quickly moved onto the bed with a grin,coming for her.
"No,wait-"she tried to hurry away because she knew what he was about to do as he rushed onto the bed.
But she was too slow and he caught her by the waist,pulling her back onto her back and immediately tickling her.
"Carlos,stop!"She started to laugh,trying to bat away his hands.
He shook his head,climbing on top of her and tickling her more as she tried to squirm away.
"I'm going to kick you."She said through a laugh.
"No,you won't."He winked.
She finally managed to grab his hands and stop him from tickling her more.
He chuckled,looking down at his hands as she refused to let them go.
Then,she shifted."Okay...You're heavy."
He laughed,started to get off from on top of her."Okay,my bad."
He moved to be next to her as she sat up.Putting an arm across her shoulders,they leaned back against the headboard through a little bit of silence.
Kiara thought about what had just happened.Especially last night.
She couldn't help but wonder...Did this mean that they were officially back together?Well,she did say that she loved him...And the same day they were already at each other.
"What's on your mind,Kiara?"He arched a brow,pulling her against him.
She shrugged,knowing that he had seen the confused expression."Uhh...I feel stupid for wanting to ask this."
"Go ahead,cariño."He said with a nod.
"So,does this mean that..."She shrugged,not knowing how to word it."That we're officially back together or...?"
He lifted his brows at the question,then replied."It's whatever you want,mi querida."
She met his gaze at that,at him giving the option to her alone.
She started to fidget with her fingers,not knowing how to word her next sentance."I t-think...I think we should go for it."
He smiled,leaning down and pressing a kiss to her head."Then,that's what we'll do."
She smiled,leaning her head against his shoulder.
"Let's just stay here in bed."He sighed,wrapping both arms around her and making her lay down next to him.
"I thought you had to go for a lunch with the team."She arched a brow,shifting to lay down properly next to him.
"I'll just call in sick."He winked with a smile.
"Okay..."She chuckled.
Hearing her laugh and turning to properly face her,he put a hand on her waist,his face now close to hers.
She met his gaze,his eyes set on her as he gazed at her,as if he just couldn't look away.
Kiara smiled,moving hand to the side of his face,running it through his hair.They didn't say anything for a while,just savouring the company and gazing into each other's expressions.
He exhaled,taking that hand of hers and kissing it."Did I already mention that I love you?"
She felt the blush rush to her cheeks and couldn't help but smile more as he pulled her against him with the arm he had around her waist.
He kissed her,wasting no more time.
She smiled through it,pressing her lips to his.

"You're late,Ki."Christian said as Kiara hurried into the meeting room.
"Sorry."She said,sitting down next to Max."The whole jet-lag really messed things up."
Max shrugged."She's got a point."
Christian sighed,shaking his head.Then,he decided to start the team meeting,now that Kiara was finally there.
Kiara just leaned back in her chair,holding back the urge to yawn.She had barely gotten any sleep last night.
It was the Japanese grand prix weekend.Yet another track where the jet lag would get to Kiara.
It was only Thursday,though.Media day.
She hadn't seen Carlos as yet,even at the media pen and interviews in the paddock.She just guessed that he was really busy.And he had also arrived later than her yesterday,which could probably be because of his schedule.
As the team meeting finished up,Kiara made sure to confirm many things about her car.Apparently all issues were sorted and she could now drive again this weekend.She sure hoped that to be true.She couldn't afford to lose out on any more points.Alora was literally only five points behind.Kiara couldn't risk anything more this weekend.
After the meeting was over,Kiara made her way down to finish up her final interview.
After that,she would finally be able to go back to the hotel.
"Kiara."Lydia stopped her.
"Yeah?"
"Where are you going?"
Kiara arched a brow."To my next interview...?"
"Its cancelled,Ki."
"Oh."She arched a brow.
"So..."Lydia said."Today's schedule is complete.Go get some rest."
Kiara smiled and nodded,then greeted Lydia and left.
She started to walk back to the parking lot,pulling out her car keys.
But just as she was about to towards her car,someone stepped in front of her.
"Already leaving?"Esteban arched a brow.
"My interviews are all over."She shrugged.
"Lucky."He sighed."I still have two soon."
"Well,good luck with that."She chuckled.
She was about to say goodbye and walk over to her car,but he stopped her again.
"Kiara..."
"Yeah?"
He sighed."I saw something online the other day...And I just needed to ask."
"What?"She lifted an eyebrow.
"I saw a few pictures."He said."Of you and Carlos after the race."
"Oh."Kiara pursed her lips."Yeah,well..."
"Are you two back together?"He asked.Well,more like demanding an answer.
Kiara looked up at him,knowing what he was probably thinking.But she had to break it to him.She had to tell him that she never felt the same way for him...
"Yes,"Kiara nodded."We are."
He frowned."After all he's done,Kiara?How can you just-"
"He didn't do anything."She said.
"Are you forgetting the part where he cheated on you?"
"He didn't,Esteban."She crossed her arms."And the only reason that stupid misunderstanding lasted so long was because he thought that I  cheated."
Esteban shook his head,as if he couldn't believe it."But,Kiara,he-"
"I know that you still...feel for me."Kiara sighed."But I just want to say that I never lost feelings for Carlos.And like the first time I told you,I'll tell you again that I don't plan on changing it any time soon."
He pursed his lips and just looked down at her for a long moment.His expression said it all...He wasn't happy at all about it.
But the thing Kiara still knew was that he would respect her decision.Well,she hoped that he would.He did the first time.
"But I don't want to change the fact that we're friends,okay?"She said,just trying to keep the mood from dropping more.
He gave a tight nod."Okay."
She gave him a reassuring smile,then finally went to her car.
