"Let me carry it."
"No."
"Kiara."
"No."
Carlos frowned, but just let it slide as Kiara insisted on carrying her own bags to the car.She dumped her bags in the back of her Ferrari, then turned back to him."I'm driving."
"Okay, fine."He shrugged, seeming as though he wanted to be the one to drive them to the airport.
As Carlos sorted out his own bags,Kiara turned back to the apartment building and said."I forgot something,I'll be back soon."
She quickly went back up to her apartment, running around to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything. As it was,she already didn't have a lot of her things. She had forgotten a lot of it at her mother's house in Spielberg. So,the Monaco apartment didn't entirely have everything she wanted to take with on the trip to Italy. But Carlos assured her that they would get what she needed either at the airport or somewhere near Lake Como.
After grabbing a few things from her wardrobe, she did one final check of the apartment, then locked it up.Making her way downstairs again, she could only think about how chaotic this trip would go.Carlos hadn't given her much details.Everytime she asked,he would call it a 'surprise.'
"Are you going to go back and get the couch next?"Carlos jokingly asked as she came back.
She shot him a glare, then just got into the car.Carlos got into the passenger seat and she started the Ferrari.Soon, she was already driving down the road.
Just as she did so,her phone started to buzz in the pocket of her pants.
"Oh,come on."She sighed, since she had already went through a green light and was at the front of the line of cars on the road.
"Scared to only use one hand on the wheel?"Carlos chuckled.
"I don't touch my phone while driving."She said,not looking his way."Trust me,I have experience."
"Oh,I want to hear about that experience later on."He said, reaching a hand towards her.He pulled the phone out of her pocket, saying."It's your mom."
"FaceTime?"Kiara asked, knowing how Elijah loved to use a video call.
"Yep."Carlos nodded,then answered the phone.
As soon as he did,he saw Elijah's face right in the screen.
"Oh,hi."Elijah said to Carlos.
"Hello,Elijah."Carlos replied, holding the phone higher and at an angle so Kiara could glance at the screen if she wanted to.
"What's up,Elijah?"Kiara asked.
"Nothing."He sighed."I'm just playing video games."
"F1?"Kiara asked.
"Yep."He said."And I'm playing as you,Carlos."
"Oh,you're definitely winning,in that case."Carlos chuckled, winking at Kiara. She playfully rolled her eyes at him and carried on driving.
"Are you guys coming here soon?"Elijah asked, literally almost dropping the phone.
"Uhh,no."Kiara told him."Didn't Aunty Lina tell you?"
"No."He shook his head.
"Carlos and I are going to Italy first, okay?"She said, trying to sound reassuring."After that,I'll be coming back to Spielberg."
"Oh,okay."He said."What about you,Carlos?"
Carlos replied."After Italy,I'll be going back home too.But I'll find time to visit.I promise,niño."
"Okay."Elijah said.
"Everything good at home?"Kiara asked.
"Yep."He said with a grin."Aunty Lina made chocolate cake."
"Oh,save me some."Kiara laughed.
"Nope."He said with a mischievous giggle.
They spoke for some time more.Well, mostly Elijah and Carlos. But after some time,Kiara said."Okay,I'll call you later."
"Bye,Ki."Elijah said,waving through the screen."Bye,Carlos."
"Adios,niño."Carlos said with a wave.Then,Elijah hung up.
Carlos put the phone down in the middle console of the car, saying with a sigh."Imagine if that's how we have to talk to our kid during race weekends."
"Carlos!"Kiara snapped."Are you seriously talking about stuff like  that?!"
He shrugged and she slapped his arm, causing him to laugh.

"I can manage on my own."Kiara yawned, moving Carlos out of the way as she got out of the cab they had taken to the place they were staying.
"You look like a zombie."He laughed as she moved past him and started towards the small villa.
She paused and looked at it.Carlos hadn't told her anything about the trip. This was the part where she finally got to see the accommodation he had booked for the week.It was a single-story villa, not really that big.And from what she could manage to see in the late night,it had quite a good view of the Lake Como itself.
She walked up to the door of the building and Carlos followed her, unlocking the door with the keys he had gotten from the owner earlier on.As soon as he opened the door for her,he turned back to the cab and went over to help the driver unload the luggage.
Kiara yawned again, rubbing at her eyes. She had fallen asleep during the ride from the airport. The flight itself had already made her sleepy. As much as she wanted to run around the small place they would stay in,she wanted to climb into bed as soon as possible.
She tiredly switched on a few lights to find her way to the bedroom.Walking to the right and down the only hallway there seemed to be,she glanced around to find the bedroom.
She opened the first door, only to find the bathroom. When she checked the next room, she finally found a bedroom. She flicked on the lights and ambled her way into the room, glancing around. The style of the villa seemed to have an old,yet new look to it,which she liked. The light shades of brown, green and other neutral colour tones fit it well.
As she approached the bed, though, she put a hand on one of the wooden bed posts and paused.
He only booked a place with one room? She thought to herself...That little cheater.
"You okay, cariño?"Carlos asked as he finally came into the room, setting a whole lot of the luggage down.
Kiara turned around to face him, crossing her arms."You're sleeping on the couch."
"What?"He frowned.
"You obviously knew what you were doing when you only got one bed."She crossed her arms."I will not lose that bet so easily."
"You're crazy if you think that I'll sleep on the couch."
"You're crazy if you think I won't sleep on the couch."
He paused, surprise flashing through his eyes at her remark.
"So,make up your mind."She said.
"Im sleeping here."He said."And so are you,amor."
"Because you know that I do stupid things when I sleep."She snapped.
"We'll,partly...Yes."He nodded."But I will not be letting you sleep on that sofa."
She glared at him and he just shrugged, walking over to the bed.
Kiara just clicked her tongue, then walked over to the side of the bed.If he wasn't taking the couch, she was.
She grabbed a pillow and soon started off towards leaving the bedroom.
Then, just as she was about to leave, she was suddenly swept off her feet and lifted up.
"You are so-"
"Not letting you sleep on a couch."He cut her off, carrying her in his arms bridal style.
She sighed in frustration, using the pillow in her hand to whack him in the face."I'm not going to-"
"Build a pillow wall if you want,"He said, ignoring the way she hit him with a pillow."But you are sleeping on this bed."
She muttered something in German, shaking her head.
"What?"He asked as he carried her towards the bed.
"Nothing."She told him, narrowing her eyes up at his face.
"Yeah, you definitely need to sleep."He chuckled.
She grumbled a response as he set her down in the edge of the bed, which to her surprise was already opened up for her.He must have quickly pulled aside the covers for her before moving over to catch her at the doorway.
"I'll put this,"He said, pulling the pillow out of her hands and placing it between their sides of the bed."Right here.Happy now?"
She looked at him for a moment, then grabbed one of the other extra pillows and added it to their little barrier.
He laughed, shaking his head as he moved over to the other side of the bed."Okay...And are you also just going to sleep in that?"
"Nope."She shrugged, starting to kick off her grey sweatpants. She was too tired to rummage through her bag for any night wear. She left her t-shirt on,though.
Carlos just arched a brow, then pulled his own shirt over his head, putting it aside as he started to get into bed with only his boxers on.
Kiara quickly shifted to her side, not looking his way.She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of looking.
