Chapter 59

Kiara put all her focus into winning the race.
And by the final few laps,she was quite confident that she could win it.
"Lando is five-point one behind."Santiago said on the radio."McLaren are currently deciding whether they should let Ivy have a go or not."
"Copy."Kiara said,going onto the next lap.
It was all going well and Kiara even set the fastest lap after some time.
But then,she checked her mirrors as Santiago said."Erickson chasing.Push for a gap."
"Where did that Mclaren even come from?"Kiara asked,not knowing how Ivy had caught up so quickly.
Kiara carried on,trying to shake of Ivy as she went through the next set of turns.
Then,the DRS was enabled.And Ivy wasted no time in using it.
At the main straight and on the next lap,Ivy managed to use it and get ahead of Kiara.Soon,they were gone wheel to wheel.
Not to a rookie,Kiara. She told herself,immediately trying to get the lead back.
And she actually managed to do it after a few turns.Going onto the next lap,she got ahead of Ivy again.
Kiara didn't spare any second,of course.She tried her best to extend the gap.And soon,she pulled away from Ivy,leaving the Australian rookie behind.
Nearing the final lap,Kiara loosed a breath,relieved."Woah."
"Good fight,Ki."Santiago said."Just keep up with that gap."
Kiara continued,doing what she was told.She couldn't help but think about how Ivy had just come out of nowhere and put pressure.It wasn't a bad result for her,in any case,to be on the podium.
As Kiara passed the checkered flag,Santiago came on the radio again."And that's another win to add on,Ki."
"Lets go!"Kiara chuckled,grinning to herself.
"Well done,Ki."He said."You earned it after that hardwork."
"Thanks."
Bringing her car into parc fermé,Kiara soon got out and pumped her fist in the air,waving to the team as they stood nearby.
After a moment,she looked nearby and saw Ivy about to get out of her car.
"Where the hell did you even come from?!"Kiara chuckled,walking up to Ivy.
She shrugged as she got out of her car."Gave it a go."
"You little-"Kiara laughed.
Then,they shared a hug.

"I saw your little battle in the highlights."Carlos said,coming up behind Kiara as she stood at one of the monitors in the Red Bull garage.
She quickly spun around,arching a brow and totally surprised to see him in the garage.She started to wonder how he had even gotten in.
"How did you-"Kiara looked over his shoulder.
"Snuck in."He raised a finger to his lips."Shhh."
"No!"Christian exclaimed from nearby."Get that ketchup bottle-looking intruder out of the garage!"
"Uhh..."
"Ketchup bottle."Kiara giggled.
Carlos gave her a flat look at first and she just smiled.But then he immediately spun around as Christian walked over,saying."Sainz,who even let you in?"
"I'm a driver in this sport."Carlos winked,giving Christian a nod.
"Well,not for this team.Now leave my driver alone."Christian told him."We have work to do."
Carlos shared a look with Kiara,then asked."Is it urgent?"
"No,but-"
"Okay."Carlos quickly grabbed Kiara's hand and made a run for it,dragging her along with him.
"Kiara!"Christian shouted after them as they ran out of the garage.
Kiara just laughed,running out with Carlos as he pulled her along by the hand,dodging the mechanics on the way out.
She glanced over her shoulder for second, seeing Christian fold his arms and shake his head.Though,she could have sworn that she saw him smile for a second as she ran off with Carlos,running out of the garage and into the paddock.
"Where are we even going?"Kiara asked as they kept on going,people moving aside for them and just watching.
"I don't know."He laughed,giving her hand a squeeze.
After a few moments,they finally came to a stop in the middle of the paddock,both laughing uncontrollably as they tried to catch their breath at the same time.
"I need some water."Carlos laughed,both leaning against each other.
Kiara grinned,inhaling a little as she said."Hey,helping me get out of that garage was your idea."
"But you're fine with it,no?"He smiled,looking down at her as she took off her cap and dragged a hand through her hair.
"Want to go the hospitality?"She asked.
"Okay."He nodded,then walked off with her.
