Chapter 48

Kiara glared in the direction of Carlos and Amber as they were seated at a table for two on the other side of the large terrace.
Daniel raised his hands in defence."I didn't know!"
"That's sure one hell of a coincidence."Esteban said,narrowing his eyes on Carlos.
"Did you mention that we were already coming here?"Kiara asked.
Daniel quickly shook his head."No,obviously.And doesn't that just give them another reason to be here?Not knowing that we were also coming here?"
Kiara narrowed her eyes at Daniel and he quickly looked away,saying."Listen,can't we just ignore them?We're here to have fun.Not sulk."
Pierre nodded in agreement."Daniel is right.Let's just ignore them."
Daniel called over the waitress soon after,still avoiding Kiara's main question.
Kiara felt eyes on her and she looked over at Carlos and Amber again.They were both now looking at her,at Esteban and the other two.
Kiara was the only one to notice it.So,she kept quiet and looked away,sighing to herself.
Not again...Why again.
She thought that the summer break would be a way for her to avoid them.But the odds were clearly not in her favour this time.
"You okay?"Esteban asked as he glanced down and saw her leg bounce a little.
She quickly nodded."I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"He arched a brow.
"I just need to go to restroom."Kiara said,standing up from her seat."I'll be back in a minute."
She left the table,also avoiding the glare from Amber as she passed them at a short distance.Thankfully,Carlos was turned away and talking to the waiter.He didn't see her pass by to go into the restroom.
Kiara went straight to the bathrooms.She went into the first open stall and locked it,standing there for a few moments.
Hell no...She thought to herself.This is not happening.
Kiara leaned against the door of the stall,shutting her eyes for a second.She thought about what to do...
Was she supposed to show that she didn't want them around?Or was she just supposed to just attempt to be confident and ignore their presence,make herself seem unbothered?
She loosed a sigh.Fricken unbelievable...How was that even possible?How did they just happen to come to the same place?
The door of the restroom opened and someone walked in,interrupting Kiara's thoughts.
"Stop being so worried."Someone said in a hushed tone,seeming to drag someone else in and lock the door.
Kiara frowned to herself.This was a public bathroom with multiple stalls.
Could Amber have no respect?
Oh,wait she doesn't.How irresponsible of me to forget. Kiara rolled her eyes to herself.
"Amber,not here."Kiara heard Carlos say.
"Just shut up."Amber chuckled.
Everything suddenly went quiet for a second and Kiara grew an idea of what she thought was going on.She knew that if she walked out of the stall at that moment,she would find Amber's lips on his.
"Amber,stop-"
"Relax,Carlos."She cut him off.
Kiara frowned as she heard it.It didn't sound like Carlos wanted to do it at all at the moment.
"I said-"
Carlos was cut off again,things suddenly going quiet again.
Kiara couldn't take it anymore.She couldn't just wait for them to finish up.She had to leave right now.
She unlocked the door of the stall and immediately saw Carlos standing against a wall,Amber obviously holding onto him.
Kiara diverted her gaze,walking out of the stall as Amber quickly turned around to see who it was.Actually,she probably knew exactly who it was,since she had seen Kiara coming to the bathroom.She had dragged Carlos here for it on purpose.
Carlos levelled his gaze on Kiara,watching her leave the bathroom.He seemed as if he wanted to rush over and say something to her,but he didn't.
Kiara left the bathroom with her gaze lowered,quickly walking back to the table.
She sat down again,trying to hide her troubled expression.
"Everything okay?"Esteban asked.
Kiara just nodded,diverting her gaze to the waitress who came over and set down their food.
"I was thinking that we should go on the water tomorrow."Daniel said."Hire a boat or something."
"Sounds good."Pierre nodded."I mean,I could really go for a swim."
"Hey."Kiara frowned."What happened with Kika?Wasn't she supposed to come today?"
"Tomorrow."Pierre replied."There was some delay to the flight or something."
"Oh."Kiara nodded.
"Poor Pierre is missing his girlfriend."Esteban said,faking a sympathetic tone.
"Idiot,"Pierre kicked him under the table."Fermez-la."
Esteban said something back in French too,laughing.
"Okay,cut it,you two."Daniel said."We can't have a fist fight here in the middle of a restaurant."
"I wouldn't mind seeing that."Kiara uttered provokingly,taking a sip of her drink.
"Hey."Daniel said in a warning tone.
She just gave a sweet smile in return,making a hand gesture for Pierre to go ahead."Baguette fight."
"Again with the baguettes."Pierre sighed,pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I actually think I want to try that."Esteban said.
"Guys,we're in Italy."Daniel said.
Kiara actually almost laughed at the conversation.And she didn't mind that happening.As long as it distracted her from what she just saw,she was content with it.
And most of the dinner went like that.
"I know we agreed to try out another restaurant tomorrow,"Esteban said as they started to get up from the table."But this one's giving me second thoughts."
Kiara arched a brow."In a good or bad way?"
"Oh,an amazing way."He said,laughing."I don't want to leave."
Kiara smiled,then looked at Daniel."What do you say,Danny?You planned the trip."
He chuckled,nodding."I say we come back for breakfast tomorrow,then lunch the next day,dinner the day after and so on?"
"I'll try to understand what you just said."Pierre shook his head.
Kiara glanced over to the other table from earlier.She didn't know why,but she did.
She met his gaze for a moment.And it wasn't hard at all.It was soft,as if asking something.
But he soon looked away as Amber said something,getting his attention.
"Come on."Esteban said,snapping Kiara back to reality.
She blinked for a moment,then nodded at Esteban,following and leaving the restaurant.
