⁂⁂⁂
It's my turn to burst out into laughter— a hard and tummy hurting laughter. I have to enclose my mouth with my hands to mute the sound, so I won't wake my parents up.
I let myself fall onto Cade's chest again, still cracking. I hear him laugh too and it only enhances mine.
"Now you know why I was laughing." Cade says and I totally agree.
I'm not laughing because I just found out Zayn likes me. It's because we are all in the same friend group and we've been living with repressed crushing for each other.
I sit up properly to look at Cade. "This is honestly mind blowing to me." I wipe tears that has managed to fall from my eyes from laughing too much.
"How is that even possible? How can Zayn like me in a more than a friend way?" I run my fingers through my hair, still finding this information too steep to digest.
"I wondered the same thing for Ophelia. I genuinely thought she was being the way she was with me, because she's naturally flirty and she's a bubbly person. So I didn't look past that." Cade lets out a breath, following his elaboration.
I look heavenwards and mutter, "this is just crazy."
Cade liked me and I didn't know.
Ian had feelings for me and I had no clue.
And now, Zayn has a crush on me and I would've never seen that one coming.
Am I so freaking oblivious?
"You know what?" I meet the grey eyes staring back at me. Cade hasn't stopped running his palm and fingers on my thighs all these time.
"I'm not even sad anymore." I tell him with a soft smile playing on my lips and he gifts me with his perfect smile.
"I'm just so..." I shrug, unable to fix a word on my current state of feeling. Cade nods his head in understanding.
"For how long?" Already knowing what I mean, Cade responds.
"Since middle school." Surprise flashes in my eyes and my mouth forms into an 'o' shape.
"He told me about his undying crush for you from the very beginning, years ago when I was still in Scottvile." Cade adds.
It's been that long?
And Zayn never said anything?
"So you knew all this time that Zayn likes me and you didn't say anything?" He nods his head tardily, trying to hold back his smile.
I give him a "are you serious?" look.
"And you knew Ophelia likes me too, but you didn't say anything as well." A smile stings my face and I fall back on top my bed, in order to avoid his scrutinizing gaze.
