⁂⁂⁂
The concern my best friends are staring at me with right now is puke worthy.
"I'll literally poke out all your eyes if you guys don't stop staring at me like I'm about to die." My words barely faze them.
Because of the cold of the night, I hug my arms around my bare waist for warmth and Cade notices way too swiftly. He was about to take off his his jacket, but I shook my head.
Despite the fact that Cade knows what's really wrong with me, he still holds the same compassionate look as Ophelia and Zayn.
"Are you sure you're okay Freya?" Comes Zayn.
"Seriously guys, I'm fine." I've assured them more than once that there's nothing wrong with me— which is obviously a lie.
I have been forced to use my inhaler more times than I would've liked just this evening and that's what is alarming them.
The four of us came to the poolside at the backyard to talk and occasionally drink. Well Ophelia is mostly doing the talking and I've not taken a sip of the Vodka.
Ophelia told us what really went down between her and Cade. Their date and everything after.
Cade has barely spoken a word and if I didn't know him any better, I would've been way too worried. I don't wanna mention how lost he looks sometimes or how subtle his entire demeanor is.
Now that I think about it, I don't think it has anything to do with him being here or the whole thing with Ophelia. Maybe something is actually going on.
"So that's what happened guys. That's why things between the both of us—" Ophelia gestures her finger between Cade and herself, "have been so awkward and off lately." She says and drinks the alcoholic substance, her face scrunching as she downs the drink.
"Why didn't you mention this to me Cade?" Zayn who was once holding a worried look towards me, now looks hurt and a bit upset as he stares at Cade.
"Pass me the bottle Ophelia." Cade utters in a gruff manner, his tone lacking emotion. He takes the drink instead of responding and downs a large quantity.
"Are you gonna say anything or just ignore my question by drinking?" Zayn adds when Cade didn't respond, but he stops drinking.
I'm watching in silence, trying to decipher what's really going on with my boyfriend. His exterior is cold and unwelcoming.
I'm afraid of saying anything to him, because I wouldn't be able to cover up the emotions that are threatening to break out of me.
