"You're here," I blurted in the midst of the moment. Pinagpag ko ang suot kong shorts tyaka dali-daling pinunasan ang mamasa-masa kong mga mata.
He coldy stared at me. "Yeah, this is my house so why would I not be?"
Hindi ko maiwasang mapalunok.
"Kiddo, you should go back to your mother now, she's looking for you." He patted the kids head. "Next time, don't ask or listen to adult things, that's bad. Do you understand?"
"Yes po tito, Kiel." Gabrielle eagerly nodded. "Tito bili po tayo ice cream."
Nakita kong paglitaw ng ngiti sa kaniyang mukha.
Napatigil ako at hindi maiwasang mapatitig sa kaniyang nakangiting mukha.
His smile.
The smile that I haven't seen for years. It's like a beam of hope. Something that I didn't really think would be seen again.
The last time I saw it was before... It was before I impaired him. Before I did that auspicious mistake.
But then... now.
"Sure kid, what flavor do you want."
Gabrielle happily shouted with delight. "Iyong strawberry flavor po tapos sama po natin si ate Constance."
Hindi ko maiwasang magulat sa sinabi ni Gabrielle.
I saw Kielandro's eyes travelled right through me- my direction. Wala sa sarili akong napayuko.
"Um... sure kid. But you should go to you mom first and ask for her permission, ok?" He patted the kids head again.
"Ok," ani ni Gabrielle tyaka nagpaalam saaming dalawa.
A moment of silence elapsed through the whole area where we're currently both standing. Magkaharap kami pero patuloy lang akong nakayuko. I felt his blazing stares pinning right through me kahit hindi ako nakatingin sa kanya. The atmosphere was awkwardly outrageous.
Napahawak ako sa kabilang kamay ko. I used my right hand to hold the left side of my arm as a feel like my body is shivering.
"So you really did still go on with you foolishness." Basag niya sa katahimikan. "You're not really going to give up weren't you?" He coldy blurted.
I gathered up my strength to answer him. "No, if this means obtaining your help, then I would not stop." I took a deep breath. "I'll savor every last hope I have and those that I see."
"Well then, suit yourself." He fixed his collar. "I'm sure anyway that you won't succeed."
Napataas ako ng tingin. "Ba't ba gan'yan ka? Don't you want your brother to be healed from his suffering."
He turned his gaze one me. "And you think you could really do it? Even the most smartest psychiatrist can't even fix him. Even us- kaya ikaw pa kaya?" nanunuya niyang ani.
"Pa'ni kung magagawa ko." I looked up straight in his eyes. I maybe affected by his presence pero binibigyan ako ng lakas ng determinasyon ko.
