Over the course of the last month, things at Elm Tree House had returned to normal, whatever that was around here anyways. Nova had found a daily routine she stuck to religiously as it gave herself a sense of control that the last few weeks had lacked; she'd wake up before everyone else, being a natural early riser, make her coffee, return to her room to read and skip breakfast, spend the day in the garden making the most of the sunny weather, and then return to her room after dinner. Nova was beginning to like it at The Dumping Ground, though she wondered how much she owed that to Liam and Elektra, the former of whom she found herself spending an awful lot of time with, and the latter too, of course, but only after hours when everyone was asleep, so they could uphold their "frenemies" status.
On Wednesdays, after Gus' piano lessons (which he was allowed to take with an actual teacher again) Nova would sit with him and play whatever Gus needed to practice that day. Carmen, Tee, Toby and Johnny tried watching one week, but Gus wouldn't allow it. The only audience the pianists allowed was Tracy. Speaking of, Nova had soon realised that Tracy still blamed herself for Lily's accident, and the ginger's compassion had overridden her social anxiety, so she had tried to comfort her care worker on her first day back.
"I'm glad you're still here." Nova smiled softly at Tracy, who was glumly sat on the back garden's bench, watching everyone play football. Nova sat beside Tracy tentatively, pulling her legs into her chest.
"Thanks. Me too." The raven haired woman smiled back softly, "You not fancy joining in?" Nova shook her head, "I'm more the artistic type than the sporty." She admitted. Tracy hummed, and the pair sat there in silence for a while, until Tracy broke it. "I'm glad you're still here too, Nova. I was worried about you, all three of you, when I'd heard you ran away." Tracy looked over to Nova, who looked down at her nails. "Needn't have worried. We were fine." "Still, it was brave of you. Stupid. Incredibly stupid, but brave nonetheless." Tracy laughed half-heartedly. "I did warn everyone that there was no way in hell I'd go back there." Nova said with an amused a smile on her freckled face. "Yeah, I'll give you that." The pair both laughed. When the soft laughter broke down, Nova became more serious, setting out to complete the task she had in mind.
"It wasn't your fault, Tracy. Y'know, the fall 'n' all that." Nova's voice was shaky, but Tracy knew the girl meant what she said. Nonetheless, she argued back, "Kinda was, though, wasn't it? Lily wouldn't have been up there if it wasn't for me. I'm lucky I still have my job." Tracy admitted.
