The tour was uneventful, mostly. There was no talking, so no one could ask Nova any questions- not that she'd answer anyway. Gus was bossy, but he was true to himself, and Nova admired that. She made a mental note to befriend him eventually.

Gus frequently asked the new girl questions - some quite personal that Nova lied about or avoided (what kind of preteen guy asks for a girl's menstrual cycle anyways? What kind of preteen guy even knows what that is?!) - and jotted down the answers in his notebook Nova soon found out he carried around everywhere. Nova quite liked the idea of having a notebook for everyday use; she currently only had her sketchbook which was for best drawings only and her diary which she'd stopped writing in long ago. Maybe she'd ask for a new sketchbook and some proper pencils. The ones she used currently were the kids crayons back at Burnywood and she didn't get away with stealing a few before she left.

On the tour, Gus showed Nova the games room, where almost everyone was lounging about either watching telly or playing board games. Gus didn't let anyone introduce themselves to Nova, which she appreciated, because there is absolutely no talking on the tour! At the doorway to the room, Gus asked Nova's age and date of birth; fourteen, January first.
He then showed her the kitchen where he asked why the girl was in care. This was a difficult and private question, one Nova didn't particularly want many people knowing, but she didn't want to lie either, so she gave Gus a half truth. "My parents died in a car crash." the girl mumbled, tugging on the sleeves of her jumper for security.
"Oh, like Toby. Both his parents died in a car crash too." was Gus's reply before he led Nova to another part of the house.

When he showed Nova the bathroom, she told him she didn't have any siblings because she didn't want everyone knowing about Liliana. She was Nova's and Nova's only. Gus seemed satisfied with his notes and showed the red head around the garden and, eventually, to her room.

When the pair reached Nova's new room, Tracy took over from Gus and said she'd help unpack, having dragged Nova's suitcase up the stairs with her. Nova mumbled a grateful 'thanks' but suspected that Tracy wanted to snoop around Nova's stuff and try to figure her out. Gus had infirmed Nova that Tracy used to be a care kid here at Elm Tree herself, so she could suspect what Tracy would be like.
"It's okay, I can manage, thanks." Nova smiled at her offer, not really wanting anyone snooping.
"Are you sure? I don't mind, really." Tracy replied. Nova contemplated the idea for a moment and decided it would be interesting to see what she had to say, so the girl agreed to let Tracy help.

Carmen and Tee had also offered to help, wanting to befriend the pretty new girl who had such different clothes and long flowing hair they could braid and style. However, Nova wasn't in the mood for making anymore friends: Gus was enough for her for now. Plus, she didn't want nine-year-old girls going through her stuff as well as Tracy.
"Where shall we start?" Tracy asked.
Nova looked around. "First, we're moving the bed against the wall."
