CHAPTER NINE: family values part two

Nova sat in her window watching the sunrise, having barely slept at all. The thought of Nova's sister's birthday in the near future had kept the girl up. Liliana would be starting primary school in September, wearing a uniform that's way too big and looking absolutely adorable. Nova smiled at the thought; the girls' mother would've put Liliana's blonde hair in bunches with little ribbons in to match her school uniform. Nova hoped that Liliana's foster parents would do the same.
At eight, Nova got dressed and did her makeup, noticing her guitar was missing from its stand by the door. Nova contemplated whether Elektra was the thief; she had mentioned something about nicking it, Nova recalled.
Nova ventured to the kitchen, made two cups of coffee and skilfully brought them back to her room, only spilling it slightly on the stairs. No one saw the girl spill her coffee, so she simply wiped the drops off the stairs with her sock and hurried into the solace of her room.
Nova had decided she's take a trip to Elektra's room on the way to getting more coffee (two cups wasn't enough today). Nova needed more if she was going to be dealing with a guitar thief. She knocked on Elektra's door and frowned when she was told to go away.
"I'm naked!" Elektra called, in a monotone voice. Nova ignored her, thinking she was joking, and was met by the intriguing blue-haired girl standing with her back to the door, in just jeans and her bra.
On hearing the door open the girl panicked and chucked the nearest top to hand on.
"What the h- Red? What do you want?" she said, all signs of annoyance fading into embarrassment.
"Nice top." Nova smirked, hoping to make light of the situation, gesturing to her back-to-front bambi pyjama top.
Elektra groaned and turned her top the right way, "Whatever." she grumbled.
Nova glanced around her room looking for her guitar.
"Do you want something?" Elektra questioned.
"My guitar. Seen it?"
"I haven't nicked it if that's what you mean." she defended.
"That is what I mean." Nova said, louder than normal. She motioned to Elektra in a way that told her to follow her lead.
"I'm not a thief!" she answered sternly, walking up to my face and pushing me out the door.
"Don't push me." Nova retaliated by pushing Elektra back, harder. She collided with the wall, using her fists to bang the wall to gain more attention. Nova pinned Elektra against the garish wallpaper.
"I know you stole my guitar, thief." Nova stated, as she leaned into her face.
Elektra's features softened for a minute as her eyes met Nova's, but then hardened when Tee and Johnny came running out of their rooms to see what the noise was about.
Elektra pushed Nova out the way and grabbed the girl's top.
"I didn't steal your pathetic guitar! You're the thief here! You nicked my boots!" she spat. She raised her fist to punch the ginger but then the two pulled apart when they heard a loud commotion of yelling coming from the stairs.
