"Nova? are you ready to go?" Mike asked, standing in the girl's bedroom doorway.
"Yeah." she relied softly, picking up her bag and plugging her headphones into her MP3 player. She took a quick glance at the contents of her bag - her water bottle, her sketchpad, painkillers, pencils, sun cream - and slung it over her shoulder. She then tucked her pale green t-shirt into her black mom jeans and followed Mike down the stairs. She was greeted by her favourite care worker, Tracy, who produced a steaming hot flask of coffee for the girl.

"Here, Nova! I made you coffee 'cus I know you're not a fan of early mornings." She beamed.
"Thanks, Tracy, I appreciate it." Nova smiled. She took a sip and winced, "Still hot."

"Come on you lot, in the van!" Gina yelled, so Nova closed the lid to her coffee cup and followed Liam into the van. She sat in what was now appointed her seat, the same as before, and let the sound of her music playing loudly through her headphones drown out the chatter of the other kids. For once, Nova found the journey peaceful.

The group departed the minivan and Johnny immediately started a game of tag in the large field they had stopped in. Mike let everyone run around but summoned the older children - Nova, Elektra, Liam, Frank and Sapphire to help him and Gina put up everyone's tents. Nova, Frank and Liam managed to put up the girls' tent before Sapphire, Mike and Elektra had even began.
"Nice teamwork guys!" Mike praised.
"Yeah, we work well together, don't we Supernova." Liam smirked, nudging her in the side. Nova rolled her eyes and snapped back playfully, "In your dreams Leo."

Once the tents had been put up, Mike ordered everyone to gather around his hat. Nova, being relatively small, was near the front as everyone gathered round in a circle, and Elektra took her place behind the redhead. Nova could feel Elektra's warmth from behind her, she could make out a hint of coconut that Nova had learned belonged to the other girl. When Elle leaned forward, placing a hand on Nova's waist to steady herself as she picked a letter out of Mike's hat, Nova was certain her heart had stopped. A tiny action among friends shouldn't make her feel like the whole world around her had stopped, but that's exactly how it made Nova feel. She knew she was in trouble.

"Right, Team A over here and Team B over there." Mike instructed once everyone had picked a letter out of his hat. Nova had waited until last to pick the final letter, sighing when it read 'Team A'. It meant she'd have to spend the whole day team building with Liam.

"Okay listen up guys, today is all about team building, Learning how to work together out here in the beautiful countryside." Mike explained and everyone groaned. At least Nova wasn't the only one who dreaded the idea of today. Elektra complained that her team had all the little kids on, which, by no one's surprise, caused an argument over which team would lose. Nova had to hand it to everyone else for caring so much. It was nice the kids were passionate about something, she supposed, even if it was a stupid competition in the middle of a muddy field.
Nova's team consisted of Gus, Johnny, Lily, Liam, Mike and Sapphire, which looked like a winning team to Nova.
