Nova had grown used to waking up to the sound of birdsong, though normally the birds she so fondly remembers being her alarm clock whilst she lived at Burnywood were seagulls, and not the family of bluebirds that had decided to nest above her window. Nova sighed as she pulled the blind up to reveal the birds whose singing had woken her up at 7 am on the dot. Nova then moved to her wardrobe and pulled out her outfit for the day; a pair of green dungarees and a blue top underneath. To finish off her look she braided her long ginger curls into two low braids. Her hair was getting greasy, a tell-tale sign Nova needed a shower. She stared at her reflection in the mirror and decided she'd have to brave the shower today. After a cup of coffee though.

Nova stared at her reflection so hard that her figure began to blur as her eyes came out of focus. As part of reinventing herself for Elm Tree House, Nova had decided that no one would see her at her worst; she wouldn't let anyone in. She cursed herself for already partly letting Elektra in. Was Elektra in?

Nova always wanted to look her best here, because she'd spent so much of her time in her previous care home looking her worst.

The bluebirds chirping by her window brought her back from her thoughts. She sprang into action, quietly speed walking downstairs so she could get to her heavenly cup of coffee as soon as possible, without waking anyone up.

She popped the kettle on when she reached the kitchen and busied herself with making the coffee as she waited for the kettle to boil. As Nova was reaching for her regular mug, she heard the kitchen door creek open. The girl stiffened and turned around to see Gina in a silk yellow dressing gown and fluffy pink slippers.

"Hiya love. what ya doing?" she smiled softly.
"Making coffee." Nova replied. "...do you want one?"
Gina shook her head, "Coffee ain't my thing darling. I love a good cuppa tea though." she said sitting at the table.
"I can make you one if you want?" Nova offered, to which Gina said it would be lovely.

She placed the drinks down on the table and hesitantly took a seat opposite Gina.
"So how ya settling in, Nova?" the care worker inquired.
Nova nodded as she swallowed the first gulp of her drink, "Good, yeah. It's a lot nicer here."
"Oh, I'm glad ya like it. We're like a family here."
Nova nodded again, sipping her coffee in between utterances.
"I know family don't always get along, but we're there for each other when it really matters. You can talk to me, Nova, and Mike and Tracy- 'bout anything. You can trust us, babe."
Nova nodded and stood up, smiling lightly at Gina.
"I know." she replied as she downed her coffee. She moved to the dishwasher, placing her cup inside gently.
"Oh, actually, Gina, I was wondering if there was like, a bathroom schedule or something? I need to shower, and I wasn't sure."
Gina smiled at the girl and explained that it was only the younger ones who had a form of schedule; Nova was free to shower whenever she wanted (which, if she's being honest, isn't often).
Nova thanked her and retreated to her room to grab her wash bag and towel.
Nova locked the bathroom door, then checked to see if it was really locked, then moved the washing basket in front of the door just to make sure no one could walk in on her, and finally she undressed.
